After nearly a year of disruption due to the pandemic, two of our elite athletes travelled to Harrow on Thursday 22 April to test their early season form at an evening Open Meeting.
This year English Schools have announced that the annual Track & Field Championships will go ahead as planned over the weekend of 9-11 July in Manchester. To limit numbers they are restricting entries to the top ranked 16 times and distances in England in each event when entries close on 23rd June.
The result was an outstanding performance, from Ruby stopping the clock at 9:54. A time that would rank her in the top 10 in almost every one of the last 10 years, and that is in all of the UK, not just England.
At the time of writing Ruby is ranked 3rd U17 Girl over 3000m in the UK.
Henry was another athlete making the long trip to Harrow.
Whilst his real target distance is 1500m with a few races in the weeks to come, he was also keen to test his early form over the 3000m
His finishing time was a fantastic 9:11, just over 10 seconds short of the entry standard for English schools.
Another brilliant performance for an opening race, with Henry ranked 15th U17 Boy over 3000m in the UK at the time of writing.
Next stop for both will be 1500s in Havering, this coming weekend on Sunday 2 May.
