This edition of Research Connections Library Highlights features publications about virtual professional development (PD) for child care and early education (CCEE) professionals.

Online Child Care Training in the United States: A Preliminary Investigation of Who Participates, What Is Offered, and on Which Topics the Workforce Is Focusing

In this publicly available journal article, authors explore online child care training in the United States, investigating questions such as the following: Who among CCEE professionals are accessing online training? And what topics are most frequently accessed? The authors also discuss how the findings can inform policies that support the workforce’s needs.

Training Needs and Online Learning Preferences of Early Childhood Professionals

This paper looks at the benefits and challenges of virtual trainings, highlights ideal formats for virtual PD, and shares the training topics participants found most beneficial.
