Raise Your Voice for Student Mental Health and Wellbeing!

The week of May 2-8 is Children's Mental Health Awareness Week, and we are using the first day of the week for outreach to our legislators and sharing success stories from Wisconsin's comprehensive school-based mental health programs!

We are sharing a few easy steps to raise your voice and share your story to advance mental wellbeing for all Wisconsin students! Help us promote the following in service of children's mental health:

  • Continuing to grow school-based mental health services grants

  • Investing in our mental health workforce

  • Advancing parity coverage for telehealth

    See our suggestions below!

First, get a head start! The Joint Finance Committee is taking comments on their Budget Portal through Friday April 30, 2021. Get a head start on our advocacy day by sharing your message with the important state budget writing committee. Need talking points? Check out the SMH Policy Priorities here!

Find your legislator! On May 3, share your success story from your local comprehensive school mental health program. Click here and enter your home address under "Who are my legislators?"

Send an email or make a call! See some tips on advocacy.

  • Remember to connect using your personal time, phone line and/or email address.

  • Share something about your work, organization, and expertise

  • Explain why this matters to you

  • Explain why this matters to the state

  • Share how you pivoted your supports for students during the pandemic and what your students need now
