Mid Hudson Islamic Association

Assalamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,
We hope that you are having a very blessed Ramadan so far. Alhamdulillah the Masjid has been very populated during Ramadan and Salat al Taraweeh. Please continue to populate the masjid and we encourage others to come and join us during this very blessed month of Ramadan. As we are heading into the final days of Ramadan, we would like to bring the following items to your attention:

Zakat Al-Fitr:

MHIA is starting to collect Zakat al-Fitr. Zakat al Fitr, is to be paid specifically during Ramadan, and is an obligation for every Muslim who has enough food to feed themselves for one whole day. It is to be paid by the head of each household on behalf of each member of their household. Fitrah must be paid before Eid ul Fitr prayers, as a Muslim’s fasting and Eid are not complete without its payment. We request all community members to pay Fitrah as soon as possible, with a deadline of May 7th, so that it can be distributed to the needy before Eid. A box has been placed in the Masjid and funds can can be placed there. This year it will be $10 Per Person.

Zakat Fund:
Our Zakat and Sadqah funds are low, we urge everyone to put in the extra effort during Ramadan and graciously donate to help others in need. Charity is the truest salvation for a person and such a noble deed never goes unrewarded in the eyes of Allah (swt).

Masjid Operations Fundraiser:
On the 27th night of Ramadan. MHIA will be hosting a fundraiser for Masjid Operations. These funds are crucial running the day to day affair of the Masjid. Inshallah the 27th of Ramadan will be Sunday, May 9th. Please come prepared with open hearts and checkbooks.

Itikaaf:
All three spots for Itikaf have been filled. May Allah (swt) bless those who will be performing Itikaf this year.

Jazakallah,
Mehfooz ur Rehman
Acting President
