Haringey Community Foodbox

Over the last 12 months, the Haringey Community FoodBox continued to provide vulnerable people and families with 7+ days worth of food for them and their families. Working in partnership with various teams in HfH, Haringey Council and various Community Groups and Resident Associations, providing meals for 1126 adults and 428 children.
The FoodBox also worked with Connected Communities during the third lockdown to supply food to the ‘critically extremely vulnerable people, who were shielding. The projects also support people to access welfare, debt advice, training and employment and other support needs.

One of the great successes of the project is the fact that some of the beneficiaries have come back as volunteers once their situation improves which is a testament to the way the project is valued.

More information about the project is on our website

The lost train of Haringey:

Did you know, there was once a train line that ran from Seven Sisters to near Alexandra Palace (Palace Gates Station)? The line opened in 1878 and finally closed in 1964.

Artwork for residents:

We have a small selection of artwork produced by residents during lockdown! 50 residents were sent 6 fortnightly art packs, created by 2 artists from Follow Your Art. We are so impressed and delighted to discover further artistic skills of our residents!

We got feedback from residents that the project was fantastic in supporting their wellbeing during the lockdown and we are happy to grant further funding to Follow Your Art to continue with even more packs!

There are many diverse activities and projects for residents to get involved in, and Steering Groups to join to inform what they would like provided.
If ever you would like to refer a resident please write to: jessica.amery@homesforharingey.org

ICT Team deep clean

Our ICT team continues to do an amazing job on our supported living accommodation. This month, they were at Millicent Fawcett Court, Pembury Rd in Tottenham and Bedale House. They painted, deep cleaned corridors/landings & stairwells. Residents are very happy with the outcome. Well done team.

Stock condition survey

The stock condition survey is due to commence in early May with the pilot and first tranche of surveying focusing on Northumberland Park.
If you are a tenant, you will also be contacted by Pennington Choices to make an appointment to carry out a survey inside your home at a convenient time. Surveys should take around 30 minutes to complete. Do not allow anyone into your home without checking their identification.

If you are a leaseholder the surveyor should not need to come inside your home unless it is the only way the rear of the building can be accessed in which case they may ask your permission to do this.
The survey will be a visual inspection only and will cover all internal and external parts of your home as well as the communal parts of blocks of flats. It will also look at the energy efficiency of your home and identify any health and safety concerns. If any urgent safety-related issues are identified during the survey, these will be forwarded to our repairs service.
The surveyors will always adhere to the appropriate precautions for COVID19 and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) where necessary. Note that surveyors will not go into your home if the only person at home appears to be under 18.
As part of the survey, we are also planning to collect information on some homes using Building Information Modelling (BIM). This involves using a laser camera to scan rooms and other areas of a building to enable the creation of a virtual 3D model of it to which all of the information associated with that building can be linked.

Service update

As lockdown eases, Homes for Haringey will continue to take all reasonable measures to safeguard our residents and staff against covid.

To support this, we are providing a reduced repairs service in residents' homes by restricting works to emergency and urgent repairs only. We will not be undertaking routine repairs, this will include some follow-on repairs such as plastering and decorating until the guidance changes.

Any routine repairs reported will be recorded for us to attend to when national restrictions and safety allow.

There is more guidance on the national restrictions on the gov.uk website

Our customer service centres remain closed. Use either our online services or call us on 020 8489 5611 for queries, but please be prepared for a longer wait than usual. Register for an online account where you can report some repairs issues and pay bills.
