2021 and the promise of a great sailing season.

A recent sail down Chatham felt wonderful, and the BOB enjoyed every nautical mile.
As the earth tilts back to it's summer chair, the sailing season begins. Our first trip is May 5th this year, and we look forward to a long and full season on the water. The chinook (king) salmon are showing up in Sitka Sound, and the snow is melting fast.

Our every-other-year trip over the top of Baranof Island to Warm Springs Bay to pick up Rick {pictured} and Jen (former owners of S/V BOB) and their two cats Thelma {also pictured hiding out under the shrimp pot} and Louise was amazing. Lots of boxes and lots of laughs. We were able to fit in a birthday snowshoe with the locals and even got a bit of a sunburn - rare in the SE Alaska rainforest.
Monique wanted to be sure you all saw her way up the mast.
We did let her down for dinner.
As mentioned, the fishing has picked up and the weather to get on the water really took a turn for the best this last weekend. Two beautiful kings were landed and quickly brined and smoked and enjoyed with friends..
Our annual wilderness Easter egg hunt was attended by one kid - and a bunch of adults acting like kids. Little Madeline found the most eggs (in her foulies and life jacket), but the adults also got to celebrate since a few were filled with rum and whiskey. It's a great excuse to take the boats out of the harbor and anchor up somewhere beautiful with friends.
The bears are up and at 'em on these longer days. We have yet to spot one this spring; but their tracks are on the beaches and snowfields.

The timing and conditions finally all came together for a boat-kayak-ski on Kruzof Island. Many old logging roads to explore and some untracked trails. As for the rubber boots in the ski pack - we don't do anything with out them, it seems.

Still 2 cabins open on an incredible trip this summer:

Sept. 4  Alaska Islands & Hot Springs Adventure (Petersburg to Sitka) 8Days/7Nights 2 cabins open

We guarantee lots of whales and bears as we skirt Admiralty Island - the "Fortress of the Bears"!

And we are booking 2022. Check out the offerings on our webpage.
The captain is looking forward to welcoming you aboard.
Please recycle. We ask you to pass this on to a friend or family member deserving a great holiday.
