In this week's newsletter, the new Associated Students, Inc. Board of Directors president and vice president-elect share what they have in mind for the 2021-2022 school year. ASI also passes a new resolution regarding the amendment of Sacramento State's drugs and alcohol policy, we learn that more than half of Sac State of classes in fall 2021 will include in-person components and Sac State students give their reactions to the recently announced vaccine requirements!
Passing the torch: new ASI president and vice president-elect share their priorities for 2021-22
Samantha Elizadale and Joseph Sais were recently elected president and vice president of the ASI for the 2021-2022 school year.
The president and vice president-elect told the State Hornet what they are looking to accomplish in the next school year on their platform.
ASI calls on Sac State to amend alcohol and drug policy to include medical amnesty

ASI Board of Directors passed a resolution in support of amending Sac State's drug and alcohol policy. The resolution works to grant medical amnesty to students who are affected by substance abuse.
Currently, if students are caught with drugs or alcohol, they can face academic sanctions. The new policy aims to help students come forward about substance abuse and avoid the sanctions if seeking treatment.
54% of Sac State classes scheduled to have in-person components
Sacramento State released their official reopening schedule for fall 2021 via a SacSend email by President Robert Nelsen on Monday. President Robert Nelsen released the official Sac State reopening schedule for fall 2021 via email this week. This includes not only 54% of classes having in-person components but also much more.
The schedule also states that any students who return to campus must be approved through OnBase.

The California State University system announced that all students, staff and faculty will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 before returning to campus this fall when the vaccination is approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Sac State takes first in ECAC Valorant championships: E-Swarm Report The Sac State Valorant team defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the Eastern College Athletic Conference finals match on Tuesday. Coach Nick Palsgaard hopes this victory can show that Sac State needs an official Esports program.
Khalil’s Virtual Venue: A Post-Vaccine Posse Cut Playlist Music beat writer Khalil Bourgoub put together a playlist for friends who may be reuniting after a year apart thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the playlist, Bourgoub included what he calls "posse songs."
