RDALC Hosts Small Business Workshop

This week we were excited to host a Visitor Economy Workshop for small businesses as part of the ASBAS program delivered by the Adelaide Business Hub. After a year of online workshops, it was fantastic to see business owners and operators in the room, learning, networking and looking towards the future.

"Given the significant impact of COVID-19 on small businesses who rely on the visitor economy, we felt it was important to deliver this workshop in the region," said Jess Carolane, Project Support Coordinator, RDALC.

Experienced presenters Steve Davis from Talked About Marketing and Hayden Zammit from Tourism Accelerator delivered an interactive workshop with information and advice on marketing in a changing business landscape, including practical tools, tips and tricks to maximise your marketing.

RDALC would like to extend our gratitude towards the Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mount Gambier Council for sponsoring the workshop. Their contributions enabled us to make this a free, rather than low cost event. To see more images from the event, visit the RDALC Facebook page

Share Your Story to Help Reduce Government Red Tape

Tourism Regulation Review

The South Australian Productivity Commission (SAPC), with support from  the Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA), is undertaking a review into South Australia’s tourism regulation, focusing on nature-based and agriculture-based tourism sectors. The focus of the review is on state government legislation and regulatory schemes that involve local government.

As part of the initial consultation, the Commission is seeking feedback from people who have attempted to start a new or expand a tourism-oriented business in the last five years. This is a valuable opportunity for the tourism industry to contribute to red tape reduction and improve the overall efficiency of the regulatory process.

If you have a specific story to tell about your experience with government regulation, please take a few minutes to complete the survey and help work towards solutions for the future. Complete the survey here. For supporting information on the review, click here.

The survey will close at 5pm on Thursday 13 May 2021.

Border Restrictions

A new graduated system for travellers entering South Australia has been developed.

The Cross-Border Direction - General introduces six levels of requirements, restrictions or prohibitions, appropriate to the levels of risks associated with locations for people arriving in the State or have recently arrived in the State.

The Associated Direction specifies the different requirements applying to defined classes of arrivals (including overseas arrivals, essential travellers and permitted arrivals) and specify places as restricted or prohibited zones.

For the most recent versions, you can read both the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel - General) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 and the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel - Associated Direction No 6) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 here.

All travellers planning to cross the border into South Australia are still required to complete a Cross Border Travel Registration. This includes SA residents returning from interstate. Find out more here
