BRLC Committee: Belt and Road Youth Forum of the 2050 Conference Successfully Concluded 
   

23-25 April 2021 | HANGZHOU – UCLG ASPAC Committee on Belt and Road Local Cooperation (BRLC) led by the city of Hangzhou organised the 2050 Conference “The Mission of Young People from Belt and Road Cities in Promoting Innovation in the Post-Pandemic Era.” The Forum aimed at involving young generation to lead innovation and put their ingenuity to work to solve problems facing the world. UCLG ASPAC highly supports and appreciates active contribution of Hangzhou in leading the committee as well as ensuring youth involvement for future city development. UPDATE: Daejeon for the Seventh UCLG World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders 2022


CITY of Daejeon will host the upcoming 2022 Daejeon UCLG World Congress. With the vision of the Future of Sustainable Cities: Global Urban Community, Daejeon will focus on: building world peace; sustainable smart cities; decentralisation and public participation; and K-Festival and global communication. Daejeon is also seeking an opportunity to invite delegations from North Korea in cooperation with the UCLG World Secretariat. Click
Guiyang and Gui'an Jointly Write a Wonderful Chapter for the Rise of  "China's Data Valley"
 



CITY of Guiyang, a capital city of Guizhou Province and Gui’an are now collaborating to optimise opportunities in the utilisation of big data. Developing big data will support Guiyang and Gui’an to advance the five-year action of strengthening Guiyang’s primacy as the provincial capital and build a city with large economic volume. It will also help Guiyang and Gui’an adhere to the development vision of building a hundred industries centred on featured products. Click
Gunsan Paving Way to Recovery: COVID-19 Vaccination


 

GUNSAN is the first city in Jeollabuk-do Province that starts vaccination. The city aims at inoculating more than 70% of its local people to ensure public health and safety. Gunsan Public Health Centre targets 1,790 citizens (aged under 65) getting vaccination until 5 April 2021. Local people can access vaccine at local public health centres and nursing facilities. For smooth process, city of Gunsan applies grouping based on age and working place. Gunsan city has collaborated with Gunsan Medical Association and established the COVID-19 Vaccination Implementation Promotion Committee to support medical personnel for large-scale vaccination. Click

Surging Use of Ttareungi: Transformation of Seoul's Public Transport Use 



TRANSFORMATION in public transport use occurs in Seoul. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, fewer Seoul citizens use public transport (such as bus, subway). At the same time, the use of Ttareungi (shared bikes) has surged drastically. With the high awareness on health, the trend has shifted and people prioritise personal mobility. Statistics shows that total users of public transport (bus, subway) in 2020 (3.4 billion) decreased 25.9% (by 1.2 billion) compared to 2019. However, the number of Ttareungi rentals (23.7 million) increased 24.6% (by 4.67 million) compared to 2019. Click
West Kalimantan: Apps Launching to Serve People Better 




THE West Kalimantan Province launched three applications, namely KAPUAS, PRIMA, and SMART to ensure it continuously delivers better services to local people. Each of the app functions differently, but ultimately contribute to the better performance for the people. Amidst challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, local government of West Kalimantan Province has shown achievements in delivering public services. According to the assessment (for service delivery in 2020) conducted by the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform of the Republic of Indonesia, the province (Regional Revenue Service unit) was awarded with “Excellent” and nestled at the second place in national level. Click
Early Warning System: Support for Bandar Lampung to Mitigate Floods


 

UCLG ASPAC, through Climate Resilient and Inclusive Cities (CRIC), contributes to the global development agendas in manifesting resilient cities and communities and increasing climate action. This is done, one of which by supporting the city of Bandar Lampung to mitigate and adapt to climate change through the development of floods early warning system. Several measures have been made to assist Bandar Lampung. With CRIC support, the city has established a working group to ensure the inclusion of this issue into its local development plan. The working group is a platform for all city stakeholders to advocate for policies and programme to alleviate floods while promoting climate literacy. Click

COVID-19 pandemic has created a new disruption in the world. Physical distancing has become a requirement in our daily urban life. When people find difficulties to go to the market to fulfil their necessities, ensuring provision of daily needs becomes challenge. Click

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) released a publication "Creating Livable Asian Cities". It examines the region’s challenges and presents solutions across five priority areas: smart and inclusive urban planning; sustainable transport; sustainable energy sources; innovative finance to bridge resource gaps; and greater climate and disaster resilience.

New Publication

The report provides a comprehensive view of the evolution of Indian urbanisation over the last 50 years or so. It is a welcome digest on Indian urbanisation bringing together in one place information that is usually not easy to access and absorb.
