Remnant Remedy’s - DIY Chai Tea
Design your cup of Chai Tea — how you like it!
Keep in mind, the Main Components are:
Tea, *Milk, and Spice (either EO and/or Dry Spices) and Sweetener if desired.
*Milk is a component which must contain a “fat” which is necessary for this recipe to be safe IF you add an essential oil. Essential oils (as a whole) are NOT water soluble; therefore, they do NOT MIX for dilution and safety purposes!
However, EOs will dilute in a “fat or lipid seed oil.” If you ingest essential oils NEAT (undiluted), it will damage skin cell tissues and may cause digestive problems.
#1 Prepare TEA: Steep 2 TBSP of Assam Tea, Orange Black Pekoe or Black Tea leaves or use 2 tea bags in 3 cups water.
#2 Prepare MILK: 1 – 1.5 Cup (Cream, Half n Half, Coconut, Soy, Rice, Oat and/or Hemp Milk)
#3 MIX Tea with Milk: Make sure mixture is WARM enough to dissolve sweetener (especially honey).
#4 MIX Add SWEETENER: Sweeten with your choice of Raw Honey, Stevia, Coconut Sap/Sugar, Cane Sugar, etc.
I add 4 tsp. of Raw Honey to this recipe which yields 4 cups.
#5 ADD Dry SPICES and/or CHAI Essential Oil Blend or Single Spice Essential Oil(s) of you choice:
Dry Spice Options: Add 1/4 Tsp of Turmeric and/or Cinnamon Powder; 1/8 Tsp Cardamom; and/or a dash of Nutmeg.
EO Options: Add 12 - 16 drops of Chai Blend to Total 4 Cups of Mixture (2 – 4 drops/cup) OR
Add drops of Single Spice Essential Oils of your choice such as Cinnamon Bark, Clove, Ginger Root, Nutmeg**, Cardamom, along with Sweet Orange, etc..
Do NOT Exceed more than 4 drops of Essential Oil to 1 Cup of Tea with Milk Fat or more than 16 - 20 drops for this 4 cup recipe.
**Note Caution on Nutmeg in dry spice and/or essential oil.
#6 ADJUST strength of tea, milk ratio, spices, and sweetener to desired taste.
Yields: Approximately 4 Cups of Chai SHeMeN
