Nurturing Supportive Relationships: The Foundation to a Secure Future
In an ideal world, a supportive network of people would be readily available to our son or daughter with a disability. At P4P, we believe that one cannot truly experience community without being engaged in reciprocal relationships with other members of the community. Building a network of support is a good first step in ensuring that individuals are engaged in nurturing and supportive relationships that promote personal autonomy.
What you'll learn:
A variety of strategies that increase opportunities for your loved one, to develop long-term reciprocal relationships.
The benefits of developing friendships through shared interests and passions.
Tips and strategies for creating and sustaining a personal support network.
An overview of Microboards and their long-term benefits.
Access to a variety of video profiles featuring individuals with a developmental disability and their support networks.
A digital workbook filled with free resources and practical next steps that will support you in taking action.
"Our government is once again stepping up to provide health care and other frontline workers with access to emergency child care as they continue to work around the clock in our fight against COVID-19," said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education. "Doing so will allow these frontline workers to perform their duties knowing that their children are safe and in good hands."

Claiming the Right to Housing in the GTA
Right to Housing Toronto (R2HTO) and the Centre for Equality Rights in Accommodation (CERA) are running a virtual workshop series to talk about the systemic housing barriers that communities in Toronto and the GTA are facing and how people can claim their rights.
This first workshop in the series "Claiming the Right to Housing in the GTA" will provide an overview of the National Housing Strategy Act, and the City of Toronto’s commitments under Toronto’s HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan. Through interactive breakout rooms, participants will discuss the systemic housing barriers faced by marginalized communities in the GTA, and how people can claim their right to housing under the new legislation through collective submissions to the Federal Housing Advocate and Toronto Housing Commissioner.

Research Institution: McGill University
"Youth, Young-adult Participation and Environment Measure (Y-PEM)"
We are conducting a research project to evaluate participation in daily activities at home, school, community and the workplace, using a questionnaire called the Y-PEM (Youth and Young Adult Participation and Environment). We need your assistance to test whether the Y-PEM can capture youth and young adult's participation and whether it is valid and consistent. If you are interested to be part of our study, please contact us at saeideh.shahinvarnousfaderany@mail.mcgill.ca or dana.anaby@mcgill.ca.
