"The mind and the body are like parallel universes. Anything that happens in the mental universe must leave tracks in the physical one."

- Deepak Chopra

Hi <<First Name>>,

Happy May!

A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I drove out to Arizona to visit Sedona. It’s a breathtaking place, where the scenery makes it seem like you’ve landed within a vibrant painting. Except it’s all real, and it’s the beauty of nature! For the first time in a very long time, I actually felt like I was on vacation.

To give you some backstory, I’ve been dealing with tightness and pain in my right shoulder for about a year. I believe this discomfort was exacerbated by the stress of 2020. My MRI result showed that all my rotator cuff muscles are in tact, and it seems that the pain is from extreme tension and tightness within my shoulder joint capsule. The physical therapy that has been showing me great improvement involves deep, long-held, oftentimes very uncomfortable stretching.

I’ve been very diligent with my PT exercises, and week after week my range of motion has significantly improved. When I was out for a week in Arizona, I totally slacked on all my stretches and I was worried I was going to slip in my progress. When I went back to physical therapy, I was surprised that my range of motion had still improved. I truly believe that this was due to one simple reason: I was relaxed.

How can relaxation help and heal you? This story is a reminder of the deep connection between body, mind, and spirit. This is a reminder to myself of why sharing the practices of yoga and meditation are so valuable. I hope we can all find more ease in our days and our ways of approaching life, so that we can continue to thrive with health and vibrance, just as nature intended.

Beautiful Sedona

W

Reopening Survey

Please take this quick survey -- it's just one question!
We'd like to get a feel for your level of comfort with practicing indoors so we can plan best for reopening the studio.
Take Reopening Survey - Just One Question!

Let's Support India

Our sacred practice of yoga has its roots and lineage in India. India is currently suffering a devastating surge of Covid, with overwhelming deaths, and a lack of oxygen and medical resources. Details are shared in this NPR article

Here are some places we can donate to help this beautiful country and its beautiful culture.
There are so many causes that need our help these days. Whether it’s India’s current health crisis, cleaning up our oceans, ending AAPI hate, or a number of any other things, we hope you choose to stand for things that resonate with you, and that will make our world a better place.

When are we opening?

Please take this one-question survey to help us understand your level of comfort with returning to practice indoors.

Los Angeles is currently rated at the “orange” / moderate risk level. Although we can currently open indoors at 25% capacity, I would like to wait at least until the next tier, of “yellow” / minimal risk level, when we can have 50% capacity indoors. It seems more practical to wait a little bit longer, than to open at this time with very small class sizes. I would also like to give the instructors time to receive a vaccination if they’d like to.

Although I still have not decided an exact date to reopen, Gov. Newsom mentioned that we are hopeful to be fully reopened (with continued precautions) by June 15. It’s coming soon enough, and we thank you for your patience.

Getting closer to being back in the studio and can't wait!

  • Make a list of things you've done that you previously thought you could never do.

Hope to see you at the studio soon!
