Hello and Welcome
Mental Health Awareness Week 2021
Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual event hosted by the Mental Health Foundation. This year’s Week will take place between 10th to 16th May 2021 and the theme is ‘Nature’. However, the Week is also a chance to talk about any aspect of mental health that people want to – regardless of the theme.
The theme of nature was chosen because being in nature is known to help to improve people’s mental health and to protect wellbeing. According to research nature has been one of the most popular ways during lockdown the public have tried to sustain good mental health at a challenging time. This year the Mental Health Foundation therefore want people to notice nature and try to make a habit of connecting to it.
There are lots of ways that you can get involved in Mental Health Awareness Week, visit mentalhealth.org.uk/mhaw where the Mental Health Foundation will be adding more resources and information on how to get involved. |
New Derbyshire mental health animation
The development of the new 24/7 Derbyshire Mental Health Helpline and Support Service, run by a partnership of NHS and third sector organisations, is a positive that has emerged from the pandemic. We know that people in our communities, many of which will never have sought mental health support before, are struggling to cope with the current challenges presented by the restrictions to our daily lives.
To promote the service and the IAPT support that continues to be available, Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have developed a new animation that aims to support people that may be struggling at this time. This includes some useful advice on how to keep yourself well, but also confirms that people are not alone and that help continues to be available.
You can watch the animation on YouTube. |
