“For where two or three gather in My Name, I am there with them...” ~ Matthew 18:20

I’ve been thinking lately about how my whole life should be an act of worship to God. I’ve been thinking about how worship can happen at any time and any place.

Even in the midst of this pandemic, even as we see light through the clouds and a way forward, we can create worship together anytime and anyplace.

We can stop what we’re doing, and come before God in prayer and we are worshiping together.

When we’re talking on the phone we can invite God in and pray to Him, and we are worshiping God together.

When we imitate Jesus and we come before God in prayer alone, Jesus is always there with us. When we gather together to worship God and lift each other up, Jesus says “I am with you”.

Friends, let’s stop what we’re doing often and worship God together. Give thanks to God - everywhere - at all times and in all places that He is with you. Our lives are acts of worship, and Church can happen anywhere.

May God be with you today in this moment, and always, as we worship God together now!  Amen.

~ Pastor Denise

New Sermon Series
May 16 - June 6
"I See You"

God creates, knows, loves, and sees all of us in our full humanity. But as people, we can fall into the habit of assuming everyone is the same or everyone is like us. While we share a common humanity, these assumptions can be harmful and prevent us from truly seeing other people and listening to their perspectives. By looking at Biblical stories, this series will help us learn how to listen, respect, affirm, and act for and with others. In doing so, we can also come to know God even more fully.

Sunday, May 16
"Hearing OtherVoices"
Scripture: Mark 10:46-52
--- We can be so busy on our mission, that we stop listening. Yet, as Christians, we cannot fully engage in our mission without taking the time to hear the voices on the side of the road.

Sunday, May 23
Pentecost
"Sisters Are Doing it for Themselves"
Scripture: Numbers 27:1-11
--- Last week, we saw the importance of listening to the voices on the margins. However, it is not enough to just listen. We must also act.

Sunday, May 30
Revival Sunday
"R.E.S.P.E.C.T. the Stranger"
Scripture: Deuteronomy 10:14-22
(focus verses: 10:17-19)
--- Last week we talked about listening and then being compelled to act. As followers of God, our action must always be based on God’s view of strangers and how God calls us to love them.

Sunday, June 6
"Diverse People, One Vision"
Scripture: Revelation 7:9-17
--- We cannot truly listen to, act, or love all of God’s children if we do not also affirm how God sees all of us. And through affirming one another in all our fullness, God becomes more fully revealed to and known by us.

Sunday Morning Schedule Change
As you know, Pastor Denise has been appointed to serve at Farmingdale UMC, in addition to DeBows UMC. This appointment takes effect on July 1, 2021. Currently, both churches conduct a Sunday morning indoor worship service at 10 AM.

To accommodate Pastor Denise serving both churches, the following Sunday morning indoor worship times have been discussed and tentatively approved.

Farmingdale UMC at 10:45 AM

Please note, the 9:00 AM time for DeBows UMC is expected to be made "official" at the Wednesday, May 12 Special Charge Conference.
