Law enforcement eats free at Mi Piaci after mix-up causes officers to not get served "Over 90% of all independent restaurants close within their first year. Even more don’t make it past five years. That makes Mi Piaci’s business – going on 17 years – quite impressive. But during the pandemic, times have been tough. Like many restaurants throughout the nation, owner and founder Resat Advili has had trouble finding workers. A majority of his current staff is new employees." More at CBS7

Cotton industry looks to West Texas as drought threatens planting "Lubbock growers say Wednesday night’s rain settled the dust but won’t make much of a difference on production. “It’s as much a morale booster as anything at this point, certainly after the last couple of years. We’ve got a really dry situation on the western half of the area,” Shawn Wade, Director of Policy Analysis and Research at Plains Cotton Growers, said. Southeast Lubbock has received some rain this year, putting it in better shape than other parts of the region." More at KCBD

Abilene police asking for help finding wanted man involved in shooting "Abilene Police department is looking for 21-year-old Miguel Rangel. Police were called out to a shooting on the 3000 Block of North Orange street Sunday evening. APD found a vehicle with bullet holes on Stamford street two blocks down from where the shooting took place." More at KTXS

VIDEO: Lapel video shows moment Las Cruces Police Officer puts life on line to stop killer "New video posted online shows the moment Las Cruces Police Officer Adrian De La Garza risked his life to take down a drug dealer after he shot and killed New Mexico State Police Trooper Darian Jarrott during a traffic stop." Judge grants a 30-day continuance in Cudd and Rosa case "The U.S. District Court-District of Columbia granted a motion for a 30-day continuance in the USA v. Jenny Cudd and Eliel Rosa case. Cudd's Lawyer believed the 30-day continuance was a good idea due to the fact that there was an insufficient amount of discovery yet for the case. The discovery for the case will be available in the next two weeks according to the government's attorney." More at NewsWest9

Special election to replace U.S. Rep. Ron Wright remains highly competitive in final hours, as Donald Trump looms large. "Will former President Donald Trump’s late endorsement of Wright’s widow, Susan Wright, be enough to secure her a decisive berth in an anticipated runoff? And will Democrats, who believe they have a shot at flipping the district, be able to get one of their candidates in that overtime round? “I am afraid of a lockout,” said U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., who chairs the Congressional Hispanic Caucus PAC that has endorsed one of the top Democratic candidates, Jana Lynne Sanchez. “There’s nothing much we can do about it except make sure we run the best race possible.”" More at Texas Tribune.

'They carry guns': Man on TikTok explains what to expect if you move from California to Texas. "A new San Antonio photographer on TikTok recently explained what you should expect if you move to Texas from California. And, he's got a few points. On Tuesday, TikTok user Nikalaus Peiler (@nikpeiler) posted his 1-minute video that listed five things to know about Texas, plus a bonus tip that kind of needed to be said. Peiler, who says he's a San Antonio photographer, uploaded the video because he said he just moved to the Lone Star State from California." More at mySA.com.

Bill allowing permitless carrying of handguns advances to Texas Senate floor, where its fate remains uncertain "A Texas bill that would allow people to carry handguns without a permit quickly sailed Thursday out of a state Senate committee recently created to specifically tackle the legislation. The move marks a significant step for the controversial proposal that for years struggled to gain momentum in either chamber of the Texas Legislature. But it remains to be seen whether the measure — already passed by the Texas House — has enough support to make it out of the Senate and to the desk of Gov. Greg Abbott." More at Texas Tribune

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence goes to Jaguars to kickoff NFL Draft "The Jacksonville Jaguars made the easiest and maybe most significant selection in franchise history when they chose Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the first pick in the NFL draft Thursday night. BYU quarterback Zach Wilson went No. 2 to the New York Jets. The Jaguars made the announcement that’s been expected for months official shortly after the start of the draft, setting off a raucous celebration inside TIAA Bank Field. A sold-out draft party, which included a crowd of 8,000, cheered wildly as NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stepped to the podium to call Lawrence’s name." More at KVUE

Dr Steve Montoya, MD

Not your average hail comparison: North Texan uses cinnamon roll for scale "We’ve seen all sorts of pictures and comparisons when it comes to hail pelting outside of our window, from coins to athletic equipment and more. But one picture Wednesday night caught our attention: A viewer sent us a photo of a hail next to a cinnamon roll." More at WFAA

Texas keeping only good thing to come out of pandemic: alcohol to-go "Texas, we're one signature away from having to-go booze be a permanent thing. On April 28, the Texas Senate passed a bipartisan bill that will allow restaurants to sell alcohol along with pickup and delivery orders. The bill would make permanent an executive order signed last year by Gov. Greg Abbott as a way to bolster the hospitality industry and become arguably the only good thing to come out of the pandemic." More at MySanAntonio

Houston realtors' TikToks show just how nuts the housing market is right now "It's hard out here for potential home buyers. With the number of available homes under $250,000 at an all-time low and low interest rates driving up the number of prospective number of buyers, homes in Houston are practically flying off the market. Obviously, this is good news for real estate agents, and some are TikTok-ing their way through the process." More at Chron.com

joe biden caused this…
CGM5, Thu, 04/29/2021 - 16:17

joe biden caused this tremendous increase in illegal immigration, all by himself. Illegal immigration has been going on for decades but, it was less than it had been in decades when President Trump was in office. joe biden made it clear even before he was sworn in that he would make a pathway to citizenship much easier, hinting at amnesty and because of that, the illegal surge started even before he took office. So yes MESOMETHING, technically it did start under the last few days of the Trump Presidency. President biden stopped construction on the wall, stating that not one more foot would be built on his watch. He also stopped the wait on Mexico's side of the border until permission is given to enter, which was an agreement between Mexico and the US. Even before biden took office, hordes of illegals were trying to force their way through border gates while chanting BIDEN, BIDEN, BIDEN.

Well,
ME Someone, Thu, 04/29/2021 - 15:22

"“Tonight, President Biden outlined his plans to radically change America and push us farther down the path of socialism. The enormous federal programs he proposed will raise taxes, increase our Nation’s dependence on the welfare state,"

EVERY other first world country on this planet (even some 3rd like Russia and China) has some for of universal healthcare, EXCEPT the US.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_w ith_universal_health_care

Taxes wont go up for you and me, they will go up for the rich

https://www.huffpost. com/entry/joe-biden-address-wealth-tax-education_n_6088b3f5 e4b0c15313ed5e45

https://www.investo pedia.com/explain ing-biden-s-tax-plan-5080766

But republicans don't want you to know this, because they need it to seem like the boogyman Democrats are going to raise taxes so when republicans come back in and lower them (in an attempt to defund the government) they seem like the good guys.

Republicans also don't like social programs because they would prefer to privatize everything (and have them or their donors own the new businesses that now take up that market) in the name of profit, which ultimately leads to greed and hurts citizens. This is one of the reasons they like to defund government departments to the point they can't do their jobs so the republicans can point and say that "big government" does not work.

https://www.reuters.com/ world/us/many-republican-voters-agree-with-biden-trickle-down -economics-has-failed-2021-04-29/

Democrats are trying to help the people and republicans are actively trying to stop them, it's not hard to figure out who is the good guy and who is the bad guy in this situation.

You call it the "Biden surge", which is obviously a sensationalist/clickbait headline, then you acknowledge the real reason for this "surge" (which according to the border patrol's own numbers started under trump.)  You are getting closer and closer to the truth about all this, good for you, but try just a bit harder to not be a shill for right wing misinformation and we may have something.

Blanco9, Thu, 04/29/2021 - 10:45

Never before has the contrast in ideologies between republicans and democrats (conservatives and liberals) been so obvious. Granted republicans’ record on spending is far from stellar, but at least they understand that free market (limited government) solutions are not just preferable, but the very foundation our country was built upon, and what has made us successful as a nation.

Last night Biden claimed that “trickle down (economics has never worked” which is a flat out LIE! The truth is the opposite it’s socialism that has never worked...in fact it fails miserably every time ;)

Enforce the law what a novel idea ;)

Only half of the story. What Biden also did was effectively end the Trump administration’s policy of arresting (and deporting) criminal aliens showing up in federal court...something they claimed was necessary because sanctuary cities were refusing to turn them over to ICE.

It’s complacency, plain and simple. People are just lazy. The laws here haven’t changed. But laziness has increased along with the whining. Get off your butts and do something.

miles McMillan, Tue, 04/27/2021 - 17:17

It makes sense that Republicans across the USA are trying to make voting harder for everyone! I get it now. We are at 2.2%, And if they make it hard enough they should be able to keep winning elections!! Get it down to 1%, ya'll!!

CGM5, Tue, 04/27/2021 - 16:20

joe biden caused this tremendous increase in illegal immigration, all by himself. Illegal immigration has been going on for decades but, it was less than it had been in decades when President Trump was in office. joe biden made it clear even before he was sworn in that he would make a pathway to citizenship much easier, hinting at amnesty. He stopped construction on the wall, stating that not one more foot would be built on his watch. He also stopped the wait on Mexico's side of the border until permission is given to enter, which was an agreement between Mexico and the US. As soon as he won the election the caravans started heading north again. THANK joe biden is a moronic thing to say!

Me Me....FYI, no one cares about your feeble opinions and numerous links. We all get what you're about. You hate cops and religion, and lump all of either group as being bad people. Sweeping generalizations about any large group of people are always wrong. There are good and bad cops as well as good and bad people that have a religous faith. And god forbid if anyone calls you a name..... Bozo.

"Picon was placed on administrative leave with pay "

Us citizens would have been jailed and lost our jobs, possibly kids, and maybe even our place to live if we had done this. But a cop? Nope, paid vacation while the DA comes up with a really cushy deal for him to take that allows him to basically get off with nothing more that a small fine and an alcohol class. These people (law enforcement, prosecutors etc.) protect their own, as they will this guy too, I guarantee it. While cops should get harsher punishment when they break the law since they obviously should have known better, they often get much much more lenient punishments for the same crimes verses what citizens would get.

If there are only Natural Laws, what makes your position true and the opposing position false? Under your belief system, there are no grounds for anyone to hold their view, or another view, above any other view.

That’s the problem with the view that truth is subjective. A subjective truth is as best as you can get when taking the position to deny God. ALL TRUTHS ARE EQUAL. This is an extremely dangerous thought process. Follow the rabbit far enough and you cannot claim Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin or the like to have done any wrong. The ped o phile cannot be wrong, the murderer cannot be wrong. The serial rapist cannot be wrong. ALL are simply living out their own, subjective, truths.

Therefore, real, objective, absolute truth must come from somewhere other than man and from something greater than man, and that would be God, also know as The Lord Jesus Christ. Truth by definition, is exclusive. It is either ok, or it is wrong to murder.

And this is why EVERYBODY…

"The post garnered more than 200 comments and nearly 1,000 shares."

Dang, "viral" is a really low bar for these people.

"wait until you can't find a police officer"

You have to "wait" anyway. Texas is not New York City where police are just walking around on the street. You have to call them, and depending on their abstract interpretation of how severe the situation is you will have to wait anywhere from 10 minutes up to an hour (or more.) That is assuming you can get to a phone. If you are being attacked there won't be any police around to help you anyway, and it will probably be over by time they get there. Most of what police do is deal with the aftermath of a crime or accident, very little crime is stopped by police while it is happening. The people who still think positively about, and praise, police are the people (or their families) that have not been violated by the police in some way yet, and I do emphasise YET.

Done with Voting
Black Pilled, Sat, 04/24/2021 - 17:13

Why bother voting anymore?  If we learned anything last November, it's that our criminal ruling class will go to any lengths to win.

Cancel your voter registration like I did. The law allows it, and it's one less way you can get called in for jury duty.

From the Texas Elections Code:

Sec. 16.0331. CANCELLATION ON REQUEST BY VOTER. (a) A voter desiring to cancel the voter's registration must submit to the registrar a written, signed request for the cancellation. A request may not be submitted by an agent.

(b) The registrar shall cancel a voter's registration immediately on receipt of a request under Subsection (a).

(c) The registrar shall retain the request on file with the voter's registration application.

The system is pure bull$hit anymore, nobody cares, whoever has the most money and most criminal will be the winners of any race..........
