This month’s Speak Science Simply course arms its students with the necessary tools to navigate scientific controversy! Speak Science Simply is a program that was created to combat the misinformation that we come across online every day, and aims to give its participants the tools to break through the chatter, and raise awareness of the value of science and to take control of scientific narratives. Speak Science Simply
Speak Science Simply is an outreach program that aims to provide individuals involved in science and research with the skills and confidence to communicate effectively and share their work with the general public. The program is open to the public, including interested participants from across scientific fields. The
modules have been designed and will be delivered by a multidisciplinary team of leaders from across CUE and experts in communication, including Take Roots Consulting.
 
To communicate effectively, the scientific community must ensure messaging is tailored to its audiences, delivering the right message, on the right platform, at the right time. Speak Science Simply has been designed to be applicable across fields and, through eight engaging courses, will provide the foundation and skills needed to connect with government, industry, and the community.
Speak Science Simply Program includes:

This program is FREE, open to all, and has no prerequisites. The courses are independent and are not required to be taken sequentially.

X-SSS 83, Speak Science Simply: Navigating Scientific Controversy starts May 11th and runs on Tuesdays from 6 – 8 PM until May 25th.

Earn your Bachelor of Management degrees in both Canada and China!

Studying abroad is an incredible way to broaden your horizons and gain a global perspective. Besides learning a new language from scratch, or improving language fluency, you will also explore local culture in a more meaningful way.

The Management International Dual Degrees Program is a 4-year program that allows you to study years 2 and 3 of your Bachelor of Management degree at the International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University in China, and years 1 and 4 at Concordia University of Edmonton. Graduate with two degrees! – A Bachelor of Management degree from Concordia University of Edmonton AND a Bachelor of Management degree from Beijing Foreign Studies University.
Who We Are
Marina Hutton is the instructor of the online Yoga Beyond the Mat course at Concordia (open to the larger public in June/July), and is a Self-Inquiry Guide / Co-Founder of Pangolin Coaching Services. She is a seeker by heart, and an inquisitive soul who can be found travelling the external world, and the inner landscape of being. Her passion is to evoke questions and realizations that lead to deeper self-inquiry and harmonized, aligned living.
Dr. Cecilia Bukutu is the Director of the Public Health Department at CUE and the Speak Science Simply Program (SSSP) Lead. SSSP provides individuals in science with skills to communicate science effectively to the public. Cecilia’s background and experience is in environmental health and epidemiology. She is passionate about public health and health equity and believes everyone has an important role in promoting public health for betterment of our communities.

HOW TO: REGISTER FOR COURSES ONLINE

Picking which class to take is the hardest part. Registering for a course with OEC is as easy as 1-2-3! All you do is create your account, select your courses, and process your payments. Voila!

To create your account with CUE, you will need your Alberta Student Number (ASN) handy. Don't know your ASN or don't have one? You can request one here.
