Hello CD4 Volunteer Corps!

JOIN OUR VOL CORPS KICKOFF

Now that we’re fully staffed and in-person activities are beginning to resume, we’re looking to expand the frequency and variety of our Volunteer Corps projects. Going forward, we will be holding Volunteer Corps onboardings in which CD4 staff will run through some of our goals, community values, and guidelines, and introduce you to our Volunteer Corps Slack channel. The Slack, which will launch later this month, will be the main Vol Corps coordinating space, a place to pitch your own project ideas, and home to projects that will only be available to onboarded volunteers.

Our first onboarding will be on Tuesday, May 11th at 6pm. You can register for the event on zoom at this link, and you can add the event to your calendar here. We hope to see you there!

APPLY TO BE A SUMMER FELLOW!

We are also excited to announce that this summer, CD4 will be hosting six California Climate Action Corps Fellows through AmeriCorps! We are the only elected office statewide to get CCAC Fellows — they are meant to facilitate volunteer projects, so our Volunteer Corps made us uniquely suited for the program. The Fellows, supervised by our staff, will be spearheading two climate-related Volunteer Corps projects: an over-the-phone and in-person campaign to enroll constituents in underutilized local climate incentive programs, and an outreach campaign to CD4 businesses about SB 1383's food recovery mandate that takes effect next January.
We will share more about these projects soon, but in the meantime, we need to find our six Fellows! The program involves 300 hours of work from mid-June to mid-August, with a $4,000 stipend and a $1,311 Segal Education Award. We will consider all applicants, but leadership experience in volunteer organizations is a plus, especially in facilitating canvasses or phonebanks. If you or someone you know are aged 17 to 25 and are interested in being a CD4 CCAC Fellow this summer, the link to apply is here! And if you or someone you know do apply, please reply to this email to let us know so we can flag the application!

Sincerely,

Walker King
