News from Point Nine – May 2021
Hi <<First Name>>,

As we celebrate Coinbase’s listing on the Nasdaq, Christoph shared a few reflections on our investment into the company.
While Coinbase is a company that we were (unfortunately) cheering for from the sidelines, fortunately there are lots of amazing startups where we jumped onto the playing field (or whatever the appropriate sports metaphor is for that), and we’re thrilled to announce four additional ones in today’s issue of your favorite VC newsletter. Or √9+9⁰ to make it more on-brand.

NEW INVESTMENTS 🎉

We couldn't be more excited to welcome our latest P9 Family member, CloudTalk, which is building the world’s sexiest best Cloud-based call center software for sales and support teams. If that doesn’t sound very sexy, keep in mind that this is exactly what people said about Zendesk in 2008. We’ll spare you the “how it started / how it’s going” meme pic, but do check out CloudTalk’s announcement and Julia’s post on why we invested.

CloudTalk isn’t the only P9 Family company that makes communication in the age of remote work a bit easier. With an easy-to-use product that doesn’t require any downloads or app installs, Whereby is taking on the Zooms and Google Meets of this world. If you tend to agree that most humans aren’t made for spending 10 hours a day in front of Zoom, take a look at Whereby!

Intenseye is making workers' lives in the industrial work environment better by keeping an (intensively ML trained) eye on their safety. We invested over a year ago and are thrilled to finally publicly welcome them to the P9 Family! For our overview on why we invested, check out Ricardo’s latest post and Techcrunch’s summary here!

Soda is up next! If you’re wondering why the heck we’ve invested in a sparkling mineral water company, hear us out. Soda is building an enterprise-grade monitoring platform for data products. We led the seed almost a year ago, but before we even announced it to the world, Soda already did a Series A with Singular. Check out Louis’ write up on why we’re so excited about it here.

EVENTS 📣

Our P9 Virtual Summit is returning and will take place between 21 - 25 June 2021. Expect to learn, exchange ideas and hang out with other passionate entrepreneurs and operators from the P9 Family, top industry experts and of course our awesome speakers. Previously we have opened up a few spots to individuals outside of the P9 Family and this year will be no different. So if you would like to join us, make sure to apply using this Typeform

Last but not least: After 10 years of people asking us what our logo meant (see evidence here), we finally retired the “invisible 9” (🤦🏼‍♂️) and replaced it with one that you can’t miss. You can check it out here – feedback, thoughts, etc are always welcome. :-)
That’s all for now folks! Stay safe and healthy,

The P9 Team  🎉
