It's Time to Check ADHE Accounts
The Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) is the organization responsible for administering the Academic Challenge (a.k.a. the Lottery Scholarship), Arkansas Future Grant (ARFuture), and other scholarships.
The deadline to apply for the Academic Challenge and ARFuture Grant is July 1, 2021.
Students must complete the FAFSA to be eligible for any program offered by ADHE. The deadline for the FAFSA is June 30, 2021.
Students, please log in to your YOUniversal Scholarship account. In it, you should see boxes with the name of at least one scholarship program and a colored dot by the scholarship name. Your goal is to have a green dot by the scholarship name. From my understanding, this means that you are eligible for the scholarship and have accepted it.
ADHE has started awarding scholarships, but they do not award according to any order. As a result, some students from our school might be awarded the Challenge while others have not.
At this point, many students' ADHE status is still eligibility pending. The two main reasons for this are:
- Students have an incomplete FAFSA,
- Students do not have a qualifying ACT or Accuplacer Score, or
- ADHE does not have the correct ACT or Accuplacer Score for the student.
Students, if you are not eligible for the Challenge, and you think you should be, please check to see what score ADHE has on your account. If the score on your account is incorrect, please let me know ASAP.
Info on Minimum Eligibility & Scores
Graduate from an Arkansas public high school and has a minimum composite or superscore of nineteen (19) on the ACT (On-site ACT permissible) or the equivalent score on an ACT equivalent test
Please see info on ACT equivalents below.

Arkansas Future Grant (ARFuture)
Students, if you are going into a career or technical field (STEM fields) after high school, it is important that you choose that field in your ADHE account. Choosing this field in your ADHE account Qualifies you for the ARFuture grant. If you are eligible for ARFuture, it covers tuition and mandatory fees for up to an associate degree. However, you must enroll in a STEM program, a state high demand, or regionally high demand area of study.
I understand that this is a ton of information, please reach out to me anytime you have questions are concerns.
