First-year Cru students took over the Thursday Cru meeting for a week in March. They gathered for final details and prayer before the meeting. Gen Z at work!

Dear friends and family,

“Generation Z is self-centered and immature!”
“Gen Z is the hope for the future of the church!”

We hear all kinds of things about the current generation of college students. Getting to know students this year, with all that they have been through, I’m convinced that these students have an especially high potential to become resilient difference-makers for Christ. What will it take to mature them into disciples of Jesus who make disciples for a lifetime?

That question is leading us to try something new. The Kalamazoo Men’s Summer Intensive (KMSI) is a 4-week deep dive into maturity mentally, physically, and spiritually, all centered around the Gospel: Inductive Bible study, daily workouts, Christ-centered accountability, conflict-resolution training, one-on-one mentoring, extended times in prayer, and hopefully a whole lot of fun as well.

The Intensive is also a deep dive into God’s mission with ministry skills training and gospel conversations on campus and in the community.

I imagine how the small cohort of students who have already signed up for the Intensive are going to come out of the experience ready to step into spiritual leadership on campus and beyond.

This summer Jeff will also continue his coursework toward a Master of Arts in Theological Studies through Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. I want to invest in sharpening my theological understanding in order to make disciples effectively for the long haul. In these times, we especially want to “guard our life and doctrine closely.” (1 Tim. 4:16)

Would you help make the Kalamazoo Summer Men’s Intensive and Jeff’s Masters coursework possible?

As we build the KMSI from scratch in order to meet a need in our students, financial support will give us the flexibility to provide books, training experiences, meals, and outreach materials. We also anticipate Jeff’s summer coursework and materials costing $1,600 total.

Would you prayerfully consider investing in raising up leaders for Christ by giving a gift of $100, or any other amount? You can give online at give.cru.org/0534844 or mail a check payable to “Cru” to our address below.

Also, please pray! The Summer Intensive begins this Friday. We need God to make this a transformative summer in students’ lives and in our own lives as well. Thank you for being on this journey with us!
