A Great April Gymnastics Clinic with Barbara Lindberg at Fiddlehead Farm
|
|
The April gymnastics clinic taught by Barbara Lindberg was held this year at Fiddlehead Farm. This is the first CNYD&CTA event held at Fiddlehead, a lovely facility offered by the Torelli family who undertook all of the set up including painting and refurbishing jumps, placing cones and signs, coordinating the parking and supplying refreshments.
Thank you to Tracy, A.J. and Cindy for your generosity and hard work. The beautifully designed, private facility with its assortment of attractive jumps made for a pleasant atmosphere for this early spring activity.
In the Torelli’s large indoor ring, 19 horse/rider combinations, divided into groups of two or three scheduled throughout the day, practiced everything from ground poles to double bounce combinations under the direction of clinician, Barbara Lindberg, program director at Cazenovia College, who offered clear explanations of the various exercises and recommendations for improvement. The participants ranged from riders with limited jumping experience to those actively competing in hunters, show jumping and eventing. The last lesson featured two very young horses just started over fences.
Ms. Lindberg has been a very popular clinician for CNYD&CTA, known for furnishing thoughtful recommendations with special sensitivity to the unique dispositions of individual horses (and sometimes their riders as well!). With her lifetime experience as an equestrienne in many disciplines, (dressage, fox hunting, side saddle, hunters and jumpers) together with her extensive teaching background at several leading college equestrian programs, she offers a safe and constructive learning experience.
CNYD&CTA thanks Ms. Lindberg for putting in a long day of teaching and looks forward to seeing her back at Fiddlehead Farm on Sunday, May 16, when the next gymnastics clinic will, once again, be held at Fiddlehead Farm.
Ms. Lindberg will also be teaching a jumping clinic at Abbey Meadows on Sunday, July 25, when the focus will be jumping on an outside course over mixture of cross country and show ring fences.
I hope that all whom participated had a great time and that we will see you back in May.
Thank you all for participating,
Amy Bittner, clinic manager/secretary

A Message from Vincent Flores Following His Two-Day Clinic at Canterbury Farm in April
|
|
Last year I felt very honored when approached by the GMO CNYD&CTA to be the clinician for their yearly symposium. Due to COVID we had to postpone to this last weekend, but it was very much worth the wait!
I had the chance to teach a variety of riders levels, horses levels (training to Grand Prix) and breeds. We also had a good turnout in terms of auditors and it looks like everyone had a great time!
I’d like to thank Brianna Adams from CNYD&CTA for organizing, the Asher family for generously hosting the symposium at their beautiful facility Canterbury Stables and to all the volunteers who worked to make it a successful event!

A Call for Volunteers from our
Membership Coordinator
|
|
Dear CNYDCTA members,
CNYD&CTA activities are off and running for 2021. The CNYD&CTA board has been meeting every month and working behind the scenes in between meetings to keep everything running smoothly.
But your board can't do it all and we need our members to offer their time, too as volunteers to fulfill our scheduled activities for 2021.
In the near term, we need some help on the Informal Schooling Show on Sunday, May 9 at Tanglewood Riding Center in Jamesville. Specifically we need a volunteer for four hours. If you can help out, please contact the Show Manager Mackenzie Waro ASAP at mlw555@gmail.com or 607-287-1292.
We need an AM and PM volunteer to assist at our Gymnastics Clinic on May 16 at Fiddlehead Farm in Fabius — about 4 hours each. Please contact AJ Torelli at 315-469-3787 or membership@cnydcta.org if interested.
Shortly thereafter, we need volunteers for the Spring Schooling Show on June 6 at Tanglewood Riding Center, specifically AM and PM scribes, AM and PM ring stewards and AM and PM volunteers. If you can help, please contact Show Manager Linda Mathews at linda@grouseridge.net or 315-886-3557.
And remember, in order to qualify for Year-End Awards, each member needs to invest 10 volunteer hours in an approved activity.
If questions, feel free to contact me.
AJ Torelli
Membership Coordinator

New Vaccination Requirements for CNYD&CTA Clinics and Competitions In effect as of April 21, 2021
To all members past and present, due to the encroaching spread of Equine Influenza and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinoneumonitis), CNYD&CTA will be requiring proof of these vaccinations within six months prior to the event (along with Rabies and Coggins) for those submitting entries to CNYD&CTA clinics and/or competitions. It is recommended that vaccines be administered by a veterinarian and documentation be submitted along with the proof of Rabies vaccine and Coggins test within 1 year. In the case of vaccines administered by a person other than a veterinarian, the exhibitor should provide a receipt of the vaccine purchase signed by the owner which contains the name, serial number, and expiration date of the vaccine; and date of vaccine administration. (For all vaccination proof, paper copies are requested along with the entry form - no scans or text images.)
If questions, please contact the secretary of the event to which you are submitting an entry. Thank you for doing your part to keep our horses safe! -CNYD&CTA Board of Directors

Introducing Board Member Jessica Trefz
|
|
Jess Trefz is a life-long native of Cazenovia. She’s a 2010 graduate of Cazenovia College's Equine Business Management Program. Formerly a hunter rider, she has recently taken up dressage and purchased Carma ISF (Sir Sinclair x On the Road) a KWPN mare in the fall of 2020. She and Carma are excited for their first show season this year in 2021 and are hoping to earn their USDF Bronze Medal together in the future.
Jess joined CNYD&CTA in 2019 and joined the board as a member at large in 2020. She is also a director on the board of Lorenzo Driving Competition. She loves all aspects of horse shows, from showing to nitty gritty work of hosting and running a show for others. Jess is looking forward to seeing lots of old friends and making new ones during season 2021!
