Traffic Congestion in Brown County

The Brown County Planning Commission/Green Bay MPO is currently updating the MPO’s Congestion Management Process (CMP). A CMP is a federally required document for all urbanized areas with a population greater than 200,000 people.

As part of this update, the MPO is collecting information on traffic congestion within the Green Bay Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA). To understand your congestion experiences, MPO staff have developed an online web application that allows you to place points along roadways and intersections, sidewalks, or bicycle facilities where you have experienced congestion in the MPA. The information you provide will be used to inform MPO staff’s analysis of congested areas and inform strategies for alleviating and managing congestion.

f you wish to provide input for the CMP, please describe your congestion experiences prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The web application will be available for input until May 7, 2021.

Brown County Broadband Speed Test Initiative

Governor Evers, during the course of the 2021 State of the State, called for bipartisan support for an initiative to expand broadband access in Wisconsin. Governor Evers, in the speech, declared 2021 "the year of broadband access" and stated that he wanted to ensure every Wisconsinite has ""access to reliable, high-speed internet." At the State-level of government, the Governor plans to put $190 million toward the effort. Wisconsin currently ranks 30th in the nation for broadband coverage. According to data from the Federal Communications Commission, more than 5.4 million Wisconsin residents (93%) of the population have access to broadband internet; however, 398,900 Wisconsin residents lack access to broadband internet.
