Christ is Risen!  Χριστός Ανέστη!
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Christ is Risen!  Χριστός Ανέστη!

We wish you a Blessed Feast of the Resurrection and Joyous Bright Week!
May we keep the spiritual gains of Great Lent, Holy Week, and Pascha and multiply them throughout the year!

Last year we were able to participate by live-stream only. This was very hard for all of us and it has truly made us more grateful for every opportunity we have to enter the House of God and Worship as One Body of Christ.

Unfortunately, this year, we lost WiFi connection to our Church just before the Pascha Vigil. And so the opposite of last year took place. We were not Livestream only, but rather, in-person only.

In life we will always face circumstances beyond our control, but nothing can ever prevent us from celebrating and experiencing the Grace and Joy of our Lord's Resurrection!

With much love and joy in our Risen Lord,
Fr. Hector & Fr. Theodosios

Meet Missionary to Sweden
Meet Missionary Elaine Piniat!

To the congregation of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church:

My name is Elaine Piniat and I’m a pre-field missionary to Sweden, a country where 73% of the population says they’re either “convinced atheists” or “not religious,” according to a Gallup poll.

The Orthodox churches in Scandinavia aren’t set up like the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with various ministries to meet the needs of the parish and do outreach to the broader community. As an OCMC missionary, I will help establish ministries, starting with the youth and internet. I’ll be using 10 years of journalism experience to preach the Gospel and spread the message of Orthodoxy in the digital world. My efforts will support the Metropolis of Sweden and its ministries, as I do in-person outreach and build a multi-platform online presence that inspires spiritual growth.

Please join me on Zoom on Tuesday, May 11 at 8 p.m. to hear more about the work I’ll be doing in Sweden.

The Paschal Hours of Bright Week
The Paschal Hours

From this Sunday of holy Pascha through Bright Saturday, Morning Prayers, the Hours, Compline and the Midnight Office are replaced with the Paschal Hours:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Christ is risen from the dead, by death trampling down upon death, and to those in the tombs He has granted life.

Christ is risen from the dead, by death trampling down upon death, and to those in the tombs He has granted life.

Christ is risen from the dead, by death trampling down upon death, and to those in the tombs He has granted life.

Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the holy Lord Jesus, the only sinless one. Your Cross, O Christ, we venerate, and Your holy Resurrection we praise and glorify. For You are our God; apart from You we know no other; we call upon Your name. Come, all faithful, let us venerate the holy Resurrection of Christ; for behold, through the Cross, joy has come to the whole world. Ever blessing the Lord, let us praise His Resurrection; for having endured the Cross for us, He destroyed death by death.

When the women with Mary had come before dawn, and they found that the stone had been rolled away from the sepulcher, they heard from the Angel, "Why do you seek among the dead, as a mortal man, the One who exists in everlasting light? See the grave clothes in the sepulcher. Run and proclaim to the world that the Lord has risen and put death to death; for He is the Son of God who saves the human race."

Though You went down into the tomb, O Immortal One, yet You brought down the dominion of Hades; and You rose as the victor, O Christ our God; and You called out "Rejoice" to the Myrrh-bearing women, and gave peace to Your Apostles, O Lord who to the fallen grant resurrection.

In body You were inside the tomb; as God You were in hell with Your soul * and with the Robber in Paradise. * You were also on the throne, O Christ, * with the Father and the Spirit, * filling all things as One uncircumscribed.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Your tomb was shone forth * to be more beautiful than Paradise * and by far more splendid than any king's * royal chamber, for it hosted Life. * It is the source of our resurrection, O Christ, for You rose from it.

Both now and forever, and to the ages of ages . Amen.
Divine and hallowed * habitation of the Most High God, rejoice! * For through you, O Theotokos, was given joy * unto us who cry aloud to you: * Among all women, Lady, you are blessed, all-blameless, and immaculate.

Lord, have mercy. (40 times)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Both now and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Greater in honor than the Cherubim, and in glory greater beyond compare than the Seraphim; you without corruption gave birth to God the Word, and are truly Theotokos. You do we magnify.

Through the prayers of our holy fathers, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, have mercy on us [and save us]. Amen.
This service is recited three times in place of Morning Prayers & Compline. At the end of its usage in place of Compline, we say the following Prayer by St. Basil the Great.

Blessed are You, Master, Almighty Lord, for You light the day with the light of the sun and brighten the night with the rays of fire. You enabled us to pass the span of the day and so come to the beginnings of the night. Hear our prayer and that of all Your people, and forgive us all our deliberate and unwitting sins; receive our evening petitions and send upon Your inheritance the abundance of Your mercy and compassion. Encompass us with Your holy Angels; arm us with the weapons of Your righteousness; fortify us within Your truth; make Your strength our garrison, spare us all adverse circumstances and all assaults of the adversary. Finally, vouchsafe to us this evening, and the impending night, perfect, holy, peaceful, sinless, free of disturbing visions, and all the days of our lives, through the prayers of the Holy Theotokos and of all the Saints who have pleased You through the ages.

Truly the Lord is risen!
