Funding to Support Student Access to Work-Integrated Learning

Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada has announced more funding (up to $1,800 per student) to enhance undergraduate and graduate student access to Work-Integrated Learning. A&S Experiential Learning & Outreach Support is coordinating submissions for Fall 2021 placements and will help with the application process. A&S contact: Colin McMahon.

SSHRC Aid to Scholarly Journals 2021 Competition

For anyone publishing a print or online academic journal, information and guidelines will be updated on the SSHRC Aid to Scholarly Journals (ASJ) website on June 25, 2021. Grants are valued at up to $30,000 per year over three years. Proposal development and editorial review is available from Suzanne Jaeger, A&S Funded Research Officer. Accelerated Cybersecurity Training Program

The Palette x Fields Accelerated Cybersecurity Training Program is designed to help graduates with quantitative degrees and professionals with advanced computing work experience transition into high-demand roles in cybersecurity. The curriculum is evaluated by industry experts and updated every two to three months to ensure participants are prepared to deal with today’s biggest cybersecurity challenges. Re-appointment of Chair, Department of Philosophy

Professor Martin Pickavé has been re-appointed Chair of the Department of Philosophy for a five-year term over a six-year period from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2027. Professor Pickavé has served as Chair of the Department of Philosophy since 2015.

Revision to the Statement of Acknowledgement of Traditional Land

The Ceremonials Committee has approved a revised Statement, which was reported for information to the Academic Board at its meeting on April 28, 2021. The revisions to the Statement were made further to a recommendation from the Director, Office of Indigenous Initiatives, and reflects feedback that was provided by the Mississaugas of the Credit.

University of Toronto Renews Elsevier Contract

U of T has renewed its contract with Elsevier for 2021–23 through the Canadian Research Knowledge Network. Through this agreement, U of T researchers are now eligible for a 20% off discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for both hybrid and gold open access journals.

Mitacs Accelerate Opportunities and Information Sessions

Automatic Deletion of Bb Collaborate & Zoom Cloud Recordings

Please be advised that all Bb Collaborate recordings created prior to May 1, 2021, will be automatically deleted on June 30, 2021. For more information on the Bb Collaborate recordings clean-up, visit ACT’s Collaborate Recordings Memo or follow this guide for backing up your Bb Collaborate recordings.

Also, the University of Toronto’s Zoom Education license has a 120-day retention period for cloud recordings and your Zoom recordings will automatically be deleted after 120 days. If you wish to retain your Zoom recordings, follow these steps for archiving your recordings.
