Warmer weather means plenty of sunshine! Just a reminder to bring in sunscreen for your child  if you feel they need it during recess. On a darker note, ticks are in full swing. Check or remind  your child to check themselves regularly for ticks. If a tick is embedded into the skin, remove  with fine pointed tweezers while grasping the tick as close to the skin as possible and pull  straight up. Next, get the tick identified. Contact a physician immediately if symptoms  develop. A list of symptoms and more information on ticks can be found at  www.mainelyticks.com.

Sincerely,

Brittany RN, School Nurse

Parents -- Self Care is important! Remember the announcements on planes to put your own oxygen mask on before helping others? The stresses of the pandemic coupled with the stresses of parenting can make it so you forget to take care of YOU. Check out these Self Care Suggestions for Parents. You may want to review the list and select one or two to incorporate into your daily routines. You could add a self care practice to things you already do (e.g., with your cup of coffee). If you talk with someone else and share what you plan to do, you will be more likely to do it. Then you can check in about how it is going, review the list of suggestions, get and give encouragement, etc.
