The weather is warming up! Heat tolerant veggies, flowers and cover crops can still be planted. A two inch layer of mulch, such as alfalfa hay will help keep your soil cool and retain moisture.

Community Gardens of Tucson recently teamed up with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona to create a class on Cover Crops and Pollinator Plants for the Tucson summer. If you leave for the summer, but want to protect your soil life and pollinator friends, consider planting these low maintenance, low water use plants as "living mulch." Check out the recording on Community Gardens of Tucson YouTube or browse through the presentation slides.
Happy Gardening!
