May is here and summer is on the door step!  Sending along a few ideas to support your community and your garden!

The new, extended deadline for AZ Charitable Tax Credits is May 17th!

There is still time to reduce your state tax liability and support Community Gardens of Tucson.  Community Gardens of Tucson is a Qualifying Charitable Organization that will put you tax dollars to work supporting gardens where Tucsonans can grow food, work and learn together. You can donate up to $400/single filing and $800/married filing jointly and get a direct credit on your Arizona state tax return (QCO code: 22252).

The weather is warming up! Heat tolerant veggies, flowers and cover crops can still be planted.  A two inch layer of mulch, such as alfalfa hay will help keep your soil cool and retain moisture.

Community Gardens of Tucson recently teamed up with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona to create a class on Cover Crops and Pollinator Plants for the Tucson summer.  If you leave for the summer, but want to protect your soil life and pollinator friends, consider planting these low maintenance, low water use plants as "living mulch."  Check out the recording on Community Gardens of Tucson YouTube or browse through the presentation slides.
Happy Gardening!
