Connection and Cooperation: The Hundredth Monkey Resonance Field

The Soul of Spring

Soul is a code word for the essence
that flows in, around and through
the whole of creation.

-Hokyo-

If you let yourself be silently drawn by Nature’s pull, it will lead you into the essence of Life and the innate creativity that flows within you. I call this the Season of Soul whether it be winter, spring, summer or autumn. It’s the energy of Life that flows through the entire global community and requires stillness, silence, and receptivity to recognize and appreciate it. It’s part of all the deep contemplative traditions, spiritual practices, and world religions that seemingly goes unnoticed by the many while being embraced by the few.

In times of chaos and confusion, this energy seems to have a greater attraction which we humans respond to with more intentional receptivity. This energetic presence is always here physically, subtly, and causally. It appears where we live, move, and have our being as well as in our dreams, musings, reflections, and deep longings. It acts as a beacon to call us home to the outer reaches of inner space as well as the inner reaches of outer space. It calls us to a greater awareness of and engagement with the critical and necessary changes needing to be made.

As I reflect on the soul of Spring, I can’t help but engage all the seasons of soul that call me to greater awareness, attention, and alignment within the objective and subjective realms of Life. They can be sensed in our waking and in our sleeping. At this time, they call us to awaken with alarm and love because our mother is dying. Emergency measures are needed and we’re going about our business as if nothing was happening. While climate change increases negatively, we keep hoping someone will fix it. The clarion call is out to us all to be the one and the many.

There’s a story about a monkey on a remote island in the Pacific who began a new behavior of washing the sand from her fruit in the ocean. A few others began to do the same and over the months that followed, more began washing their fruit. Over time, on another island many miles away, another monkey began washing his fruit in the same way and within a span of time, the majority of monkeys on other islands were washing their fruit like never before. It became known as the Hundredth Monkey phenomenon and became the metaphor for Rupert Sheldrake’s theory of morphic resonance, which is another story.

As I ponder what I can do to slow down and reverse our course toward extinction due to carbon emissions, pollution, and unconsciousness; I recognize that I can participate in this Hundredth Monkey effect. I can diminish my carbon footprint by using less fossil fuel, decrease my use of plastic, boycott polluting industries, support the green movement, lobby my congressional representatives, plant more trees, and keep raising awareness in my circles of influence. I can be a change agent to help save our mother’s life. I can also inspire others to do the same!

This may sound foolish and impossible but when two and three and a million cross a certain threshold, we’ll see that day come round. When we connect with our own soul, we also connect with the soul of others. We begin to activate our shared values, meanings, relationships, languages, and interconnectivities with the whole of creation. We influence systems, networks, technologies, governments, and environments. We become part of a wholeness that is inherent in the global community. We become awake to the Oneness in All.

As I finally see myself as a unique part of the global community, I’m moved to be a voice crying in the wilderness. I’m moved to speak out and act in ways I haven’t before. I’m asked, even required to do something radically different than what I’ve done before. I’m finally identifying with the mythological Hundredth Monkey who tipped the scale and transformed a culture. What would happen if you would also see yourself as a Hundredth Monkey rather than just a single cell with no power and influence? Imagine the Soul of Spring rallying the Nations!

Each of us is a vortex of living breathing energy that’s connected to the very Source of Light and Life. We’ve all been made in this image and are a part of it. My sense is that we are all being called beyond ‘business as usual’  to a new life through the very Soul of Creation; a call to action of loving companion and compassionate presence the likes of which we haven’t seen in two thousand years. The Soul of Spring beckons us to a new awakening, a new awareness, a new perspective of our interconnectivity. Do you sense the call to participate in this transformation, this new resonance, new way of Being? The time is Now. The place is here. Welcome Home!

•    Reflect on the lives of your children and grandchildren whether you have any or not. What kind of world do you want for them? What one thing could you do every day until you pass on that would make the world a more peaceful sustainable place for you and future generations?

•    Make a commitment to engage this one thing every day for a year and feel the difference it makes in your life and the lives of those around you. . . .

•    Take time every day to sit within the Soul of Spring over the next weeks and record in your journal the difference it makes for you and your companions. Note your experiences, your inner impulses, your musings, your relationships, your resonance, your actions. . . .

Cead Mile Failte! 100 Thousand Welcomes!

Hi, St. Brigit Family. My name is Sean McGaughey and I’m humbled to be the current Bishop’s Warden for our community.  Our church is going through a luminous threshold of many changes. I thought it important to introduce myself and how we can travel through this threshold together.

My wife Chelli and I have been members of St. Brigit since August of 2018. My vocation is an insurance agent with COUNTRY Financial, and Chelli owns a business as a small business bookkeeper. We have three children: Kris(31); Amanda(29); and Mykala(14). We also have a granddaughter Kaia(7) who you will see from time to time.

I have been a confirmed member of the Episcopal church since 2000, and a member of the diocese since 1997. I play guitar and sing baritone.  Chelli and I love the feeling of home and family that the church of St. Brigit provides for our family. The grace that has been given from St. Brigit to our family is something for which we are quite thankful. I enjoy and appreciate working with our current leadership to help St. Brigit live into the mission and vision that we are called to become. If you are interested in participating in community at a new level, please feel free to give me a call. (720) 841-5788.

2021 Summer Garden Camp Registration!

Happy spring!

Brigit’s Bounty Community Resources is gearing up for the growing season. We’ve begun to prepare the Giving Garden, recruit more volunteers, and started seeds with classes from the local elementary school. It has been wonderful to engage with students and teach them about everything seeds need to grow into healthy plants. BBCR will be moving these plants into the garden during our Spring Planting Weekend May 21–23. Volunteers can sign up to help at www.brigitsbounty.org/volunteer. BBCR will also be hosting our annual Plant Sale on that Saturday, May 22. Stop by the front lawn from 10am–4pm to pick out some beautiful plants to take home.

Brigit’s Bounty Community Resources will be ready to get our youth education programs rolling after Spring Planting Weekend. Four weeks of
Summer Garden Camp will bring children entering pre-kindergarten through 6th grade out to the Giving Garden in June and July. Youth will participate in gardening practices, experiments, crafts, and movement activities while learning about weather, soil, botany, insects, birds, health, nutrition, and environmental stewardship. These fun, jam-packed weeks will be a wonderful opportunity for children to safely enjoy the outdoors with their peers. COVID-19 health & safety protocols will be in place to protect campers and staff members. Head to www.brigitsbounty.org/summercamp to register your child today. We are so excited to have children back out in the Giving Garden this year! It is vital to our mission to provide youth with hands-on gardening experience and increased knowledge in health & nutrition. We love watching kids leave our programs having tried (and enjoyed!) new vegetables.

As you can see, exciting things are in store at Brigit’s Bounty Community Resources! Spring and summer will be a fun and busy time for the Giving Garden and the community. We are so grateful to announce that the season will culminate with the opening of our new Giving Greenhouse, funded by the Colorado Garden Foundation! BBCR is growing and working hard to expand our impact on the Carbon Valley community. All of this is made possible by the continued backing of our generous donors and supporters. Stop by the garden soon to check out everything that’s going on!
