Kind Story

Four boys from Cumbria set themselves a challenge in lockdown of carrying out 100 acts of kindness, and have now inspired their school to get involved too.

Hunter Hall pupils in Penrith are carrying out a summer of kindness, inspired by Thomas (8), Sebastian (7), Jacob (6) and Henry (2). The boys started the project because mum, Amy, wanted them to stay connected to friends and family by doing something nice for them.

The school children are being encouraged to complete a ‘Kindness Passport’ – recording kind deeds at home and in their own local community. This week, they helped to plant 20kg of sunflower seeds in a 300m long strip ready to harvest and ‘pass on’ as final acts of kindness in September to mark the end of all their hard work.

Show & Tell

8 year old Millie completed our Smile Activity Sheet this week - and one of the things that made her smile was cutting off her long hair so she could donate it to The Little Princess Trust, a charity that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair after going through chemotherapy.

Well done Millie!!

Self-Kindness Tip

Give yourself a hug! You play the most important role in your own happiness, and giving yourself a hug  can help remind you of your power. Instead of waiting for someone else to offer support and make you feel better, you can comfort yourself anytime by wrapping your arms around your body and giving yourself a big, warm hug...or close your eyes and IMAGINE a hug!
