Pleasing God
A Word from Alvin Malave
Have you ever experienced that when we begin a new sermon series, the Lord steps in and teaches you real-life lessons about it? I truly believe that when it comes to trusting the Lord, there are always areas we can improve on. This week Madi and I were leaving the gym when my “check engine” light came on. As I drove down the road, Madi reminded me that the day prior I had been thanking God for my car. Coincidence?
God’s providence is never accidental, and coincidence is an illegitimate concept. God is always intentional—and God’s intentions always carry a meaningful purpose. When we remember that the Lord is in control, it becomes an anchor for the soul that is firm and secure. I had full confidence in the Lord, and when I took my car to the dealer, they put some oil in it and it was good to go. “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded (Hebrews 10:35, NIV).”
Do you want to please God? The writer makes it very clear that it is impossible to do this without faith (Hebrews 11:6). Are you willing to take advantage of the challenges that may come to you in the weeks ahead by putting your complete confidence in the Lord? This commitment of faith—in the midst of our trials—will be rewarded.
