Rifle Magazine
September/October 1992 Issue Cover Story
The clip from the masthead reads:
"On the cover ... Subjected to the ravages of time and use, and often neglect, vintage firearms like the Model 1886 Winchesters in the background may be ignored by serious collectors, even though the actions are mechanically sound. As prime candidates for wall hangers, the Model 1886 takedown and 1892 rifles in the foreground were restored to their original shooting status by Doug Turnbull (Creekside Gun Shop, Main Street, Holcomb NY 14469). The frames, levers, hammers, buttplates and forend caps are color casehardened with remaining metal work rust blued to closely duplicate their original finish, circa 1886 through 1900.
