Back to Work
The team returned to work after the Golden Week public holiday at the beginning of May, but unfortunately Tokyo has extended the latest lockdown until the end of the month. The team continues to follow guidelines having only one or two people at the office at the same time. Usually, that is staff members who live close enough to walk to work, or the occasional admin visit to pick up mail or deal with documents. Those who have a long commute to the office are working from home to avoid exposure as much as possible. Thank you for praying for the team's health and safety, as well as their productivity and motivation during remote work.

Important Meeting Coming Up
Next week, there will be a board meeting to discuss and approve the translation plan moving forward. This means deciding which books to translate next, and when the translation aims to be completed. Complicating factors include community needs, donor priorities and interests, long-term funding sources, and the current size and capacity of the team. Please pray with us for patience, discernment, wisdom, and trust in the Lord's plan and providence.

Translation Updates:

This week, the two team members working on Romans drafts are in the office finalizing some draft videos that will be sent for consultant checking.

The main camera that was being used for recording drafts is no longer functional because it is so old! The team has been filming with an iPhone on a tripod. They are looking into purchasing a replacement, but are now running into the problem of newer camera models not being compatible with the other (also old) equipment that it will need to be connected to. This may lead to the need for replacing more of the wires, monitors, or computer equipment. Please pray that God will provide exactly that they need to continue to work smoothly!
  • Joshua 1-12
    • Third draft completed and checked, ready to move on to fourth draft!
  • Obadiah
    • First consultant check done!
    • The next step is making revisions based on the consultant's feedback and preparing the drafts for community comprehension checking
We know that it has been a difficult and unpredictable season for the past year, and we are so thankful to have many of you who are following along with our newsletter and prayer calendar each month. Just knowing that there are people out there praying for this ministry is a big boost to the translation team.

If you have been considering giving financially to the ministry, a regular commitment would mean the team has just a little more certainty and stability in these uncertain times. Regular donors receive a video message directly from the team every quarter!

If you are in a position to make even a small donation each month, or if you think, "I'd like to buy coffee for the team every month" or "I'd love to treat the team to a pizza once a month" we invite you to partner with us in this way!
