KBH Looking for more Umpires.
We are always looking for more umpires, we have a strong group of teenagers who umpire at the moment for the Brumbies, but would love some adults to take up umpiring too. However, anyone is welcome. The club will fully support your in your umpire development and knowledge.
If you are interested please contact Dem Petersen by email here

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers. From Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd May 2021, NVW will celebrate the significant contribution of Australia’s almost six million volunteers. Each year these volunteers dedicate over 600 million hours to help others.
Here at the Brumbies we would like to acknowledge all the members that volunteer for the Brumbies.
This includes, coaching, officiating, team managers, first aid staff, committee members, ball persons, club maintenance, canteen, player development personnel, administrators and event organisation.
Volunteering provides substantial benefits to society and to the volunteers themselves. The act of volunteering has been linked to positive mental, social, and physical benefits. Research also shows that older volunteers experience less depression and greater life satisfaction than those who do not volunteer. It is important to recognise and foster these personal benefits of volunteering.
Research based on the Australian Sports Commission's AusPlay Survey suggests that when a parent participates in sport and volunteers at a sports club, their children’s participation rate is higher (89%). When a parent is not involved as a sport participant themselves, or is not a club volunteer, their children’s participation rate drops to 50%.
Key insights from the April 2021 AusPlay survey release
- 15.7% of people over the age of 15 participate in a non-playing role in sport (17.2% of men and 14.2% of women).
- The most common roles across both genders are coach/instructor/trainer, official and administrator/committee member.
- Peak ages for volunteering are 15-17 and 45-54 for both men and women.
