VOIDFALL

At the beginning of the month, we unveiled Voidfall, our next major title, and to say that we were overjoyed by the announcement's reception is an understatement! The game, as well as Nigel Buckle, David Turczi, and Ian O'Toole were on top of BGG's hotness lists for a solid week, and the Facebook post was shared almost 70 times and reached 55.000 people, which surpassed even our wildest expectations! Thank you so much for sharing our excitement about our first 4x game!

As promised in the special issue newsletter, we'll launch our designer diary blog series this Summer where the designers will explain one of the aspects of the game each week. Until then, we also have a special event planned - we'll host a quiz show in June, the winner of which will have a chance to play Voidfall with the two designers in a special demo session! We'll be back with the exact details in next month's newsletter - until then, please consider subscribing to Voidfall on BGG so you never miss the news and join the community on Discord

PROJECT RECAP

PERSEVERANCE PROJECT NEWS

In this week's update, we shared some pictures of the first tray samples, which look and feel fantastic: they are modular, durable, and make setup and teardown super easy, so we are very happy with them!

They did, however, drew our attention to the flaws of the drawer box design concept that we originally had in mind for Perseverance. We’ve tested the box thoroughly with the trays now at hand and encountered several issues with the white copy's durability and practicality. This brought us to the conclusion that this concept unfortunately isn't viable. We’ve already started working on a new solution with Panda that still incorporates the magnets but keeps the com
ponents protected and is safe for shipping. We’re looking into a “treasure chest” style box that opens on the top (similarly to the Cerebria Card game box).

We've also shared the first half of the Art & Storybook and reported that our team has uploaded all the digital files to Panda for proofing, including all the rulebooks (solo and Chronicle included), the Art & Storybook, the punchboards, player aids, main and player boards, scoring pad so basically everything that will be printed (besides the box design and the tray assembly guide). The translations of rulebooks and player aids are progressing nicely and are on schedule. Please check out the update below for more images!

TEAM NEWS

Every month, usually on the last Friday, our core team holds a regular get-together for a "free university lecture", hosted and presented by one of the team members. The choice of topic can be inspired by our fields of expertise, such as Robin's sociology background for his presentation on the evolution of board games and their cultural impact, or simply things we're passionate about, like Richard's presentation about screenwriting with a focus on Jurassic Park.

Last month, Villő Farkas, our Art Director, shared her journey with us as a graphic designer, starting out in the board game industry with Trickerion, and discussed the lessons she had learned over the years. Below are a few snippets from her presentation:
Coloring technique on the Empathy Spirit for Cerebria
Evolution of the Pessimism Emotion for Cerebria
Performance Card and Trick Marker evolution for Trickerion
Iconography and UI designs for Trickerion, Anachrony, Cerebria and Perseverance
Thank you very much for reading this month's news. We'll be back next month with more info about Voidfall and the details about the quiz show! Stay tuned and enjoy the first days of June!

Warm regards,
