CHAPEL UPDATE

This morning the Lower School students were reminded of some of the lessons they have learned throughout chapel this year by Mrs. Duncanson, our Director of Spiritual Life. She shared about how the Lord is our constant guide and helps us navigate our daily life and when we rely on God, we are never truly lost. We are ever guided by His word and through prayer.

Yesterday the Middle and Upper school students enjoyed their last chapel of the year outside in the amphitheater on a beautiful, sunny day. The student worship team led them in “God, I Look to You” and Patrick Campbell shared a message about choosing what is good, choosing life, choosing Christ. For the Upper School, each grade was prayed over by different teachers, and Kyle Hughes led the benediction as they departed. For Middle School, Nicki Brewer led the benediction and prayed over all the students, with the support of faculty and staff.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE ARTS
It has been a crazy year for the Whitefield orchestra. We have been pushed out of our comfort zones this year as we embraced masks, virtual concerts, social distancing and more. God has a purpose for everything we face in our lives, and the Orchestra has grown closer as a family this year. The students have learned what a blessing their gifts are and to never take them for granted. As we close out this year, we wish our seniors well as they go off on their new adventures and look forward to next year full of concerts, community, and music.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SPRING ATHLETIC AWARDS
Middle School athletes have been working hard, playing hard, and honoring Him through their sports this spring. Click here to watch the Middle School spring hype video! Congratulations to these students who achieved special recognition for their work ethic, determination, and sportsmanship during the Middle School Spring Athletic Awards virtual assembly. Students also had the opportunity to hear from two-time Superbowl-winning football player Stef Wisniewski about the importance of perseverance both on and off the field.

YEARBOOK WINS AWARD
The 2020-2021 Lukos yearbook and staff have been recognized by Jostens, Inc. as a Silver Level National Program of Excellence award recipient for creating a meaningful book that reflects a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies (ICT) literacy.

The yearbook staff is excited to finally share this book with the Whitefield community, with initial distribution dates on June 16-17. Lower School students will be able to pick up their books those mornings from 9-11 a.m. in the carpool lane in front of Brostrand Hall.  Middle School students are invited to the quad from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. on June 16, and Upper School students are invited to pick up their books the following day (June 17), also from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.  For those who will not be able to make it on those days, there will be additional pick up dates and times in July (dates and times TBA).  If you have any questions, please contact Andrea Unsicker.

3RD GRADERS' SOFTBALL TEAM RAISE AWARENESS FOR CANCER

Third graders Anna Lynn Woods, Braelynn Edwards, and Meredith Uhl are putting "others ahead of self" with their 8U softball team at Rhyne Park

in Smyrna. Their team has dedicated their season to a fellow teammate’s mom, who recently recovered from and beat breast cancer. Wearing pink jerseys and choosing the team name Survivors, each family committed to donating an amount of money to breast cancer research equal to the total number of runs scored. News of the team spread to the Atlanta Braves, and the girls were invited to Truist Park for the Mother’s Day game. They participated in a special pre-game on the field and helped hang PINK strikeout “K’s” in the Home Depot Clubhouse in-game. The Atlanta Braves Foundation will be matching the final donation that the Survivor families will be making, as well as all other donations made by Braves Country. What an awesome example of others ahead of self and working hard, playing hard, and honoring Him!
