SummerQuest and SummerQuest, Jr.
Special Events Program
From June through August, visit Alexandria Library’s Virtual Branch for music, magic, storytelling, reading, nature shows, hands-on activities and more! While the library is in phase three of the reopening plan, all of our events and programs will still be online. Scheduled events for this year’s SummerQuest are listed here.

Make a Wrapped Yarn Rainbow Keychain - Craft Pick Up

Monthly Meditation, lead by our Friends at Yoga in Daily Life, is a free one-hour meditation class open to everyone.

Celebrate Alexandria PRIDE Workshops
Thursday, June 3 through Saturday, June 5 from Noon - 7:00pm  
A variety of educational and creative virtual workshops will be offered over the three days. Presenters and facilitators will include members of the Alexandria LGBTQ Task Force and other local and state partners. Drag Queen Storytime with Citrine

What do drag queens and children have in common? They love dressing up and all things sparkly and fancy! Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores. Enjoy songs and stories for kids ages 3-8. Cosponsored by the Alexandria LGBTQ+ Taskforce as part of Celebrate Alexandria Pride 2021.

Controlling Mosquitoes and Ticks without Pesticides - Presented by MGNV
Saturday, June 5 from 11:00am - 12:30pm  
Learn pesticide-free best management practices to control mosquitoes and ticks in your yard and keep them away from you and your family. The presentation will include how to identify mosquitoes and ticks prevalent in this area, their life cycle, how they reproduce, and where they go in the winter. Online class offered by Extension Master Gardeners.

Join Culture Queen for a “Juneteenth Jubilee'' virtual emancipation celebration. During the program, Culture Queen will use interactive music, movement, and storytelling to teach children and families about this historic Texas holiday where African Americans who were enslaved received news that they were finally free from enslavement.
