NOTES FROM THE OFFICE

Offering plates are now being passed in the pews. If you do not feel comfortable with this, you can still drop your offering at the church office during normal office hours (Monday - Thursday 10 AM - 3 PM). Also returned to the pews are hymnals and Bibles as well as Connect/Prayer request cards.

Beginning with the June 7th Worship Hour, masks will be optional and coffee service will return. More details about these changes as we get closer to the 7th.

WHAT'S SO AMAZING ABOUT GRACE?

Several years ago, Philip Yancey wrote a book with this title. In this series we will be addressing some key components of understanding how grace works in our lives.

May 23: Grace and Forgiveness
May 30: Oddballs, Jesus, and Me

The sermon series beginning in June and for the summer is FAITH GOES TO THE MOVIES.

Pastor Jim has been doing movie series for many years, looking at theological and biblical themes from all types of movies. This summer we will have a variety of movies from old, new, and in-between. Come and join us as we see such stars as Spencer Tracy, Robert Duvall, a young Harrison Ford, Gene Wilder, Raoul Julia, and Frederick March with films that will entertain and challenge us.

We will be showing the movie in its entirety in the sanctuary the Wednesday before the sermon that Jim will be referencing at 6 PM. The schedule is as follows:

TREASURER

Do you or someone you know have the gift of detail and working with financials? Steve Graves is looking for a replacement, as he is stepping down as our church treasurer. The church treasurer writes checks, pays the bills, and prepares financial documents. The Emmanuel Christian School has its own treasurer which handles the financial statements for their accounting purposes. This is about a 10 hour per month job with additional duties totaling 16 hours for the year.

Monthly tasks
EUMC (about 8 hours/month)

Receive and pay bills, recording the entry in our accounting system
Enter giving data into accounting
Payroll entry
Monthly bank reconciliation
Send out income/expense reports
Tithe to conference
Attend GC/Finance Meetings
Confirm transfers to missions checking
ECS (about 2 hours/month)
- Record checks and deposits into accounting
- send out reports/bank statements

Yearly Tasks

Enter Budget (6-10 hours)
Fill out Payroll Audit for Work Comp (2 hours)
Yearly account balance/closing (1-4 hours)

SCHOOL'S OUT! Come and have some fun at Emmanuel to kick off the summer. There will be water balloons, Cool Whip pies, and more surprises! Make sure to bring clothes you don’t mind getting messy and wet. This event is for anyone who just finished 6^th through 12^thgrade! Great time to have some fun with your friends.

Thank you to the ECS staff for another great year with the students. The end of year picnics were a success and nice to see the love that the families got to share together during this time.
