Dear Oceans Institute community,
Once again, I am delighted to bring you a busy edition bursting with news and events.
After the interruption caused by the temporary return of COVID-19 restrictions in WA, we are pleased to announce the rescheduling of several much-anticipated events. This includes the Perspectives of Decommissioning Panel Discussion, previously a sell-out show, but necessarily postponed. It is now to be held on 7 July, and we hope you will take full advantage of the new date to secure your free ticket.
We are equally excited to announce our next regional event, organised in collaboration with the UWA Public Policy Institute and the Wave Energy Research Centre, to be hosted in Albany. Coastal Futures: Planning and adaptation in a changing climate is an opportunity for UWA researchers, policy makers and local stakeholders to explore challenges and opportunities on the horizon for the Great Southern region, and the public are invited to join us in conversation.
As always, Oceans Institute researchers have been busy furthering knowledge of our blue planet. This month include the largest assessment of marine reserves in Australia, the impact of warming climate on coral reefs, the unique biodiversity in the depths of the Perth Canyon, and the economic value of surfing in WA.
