We made it!

Being goofy so we don’t go crazy/Eagle point at the Grand Canyon

We have made it to Washington!

It’s been good to have a couple of days to rest and visit friends and family after a long adventurous trip out here. Jena’s parents had flown into PA three days before we left and took our one vehicle straight across the country, stopping to visit family in Illinois and Iowa before making it to Washington.

We left PA on April 28th and began our road trip. We decided to see parts of the United States we had never seen before. We went south all the way to the panhandle of Florida and then headed west. We visited all the southern states along the way. We got to stop at the Grand Canyon and also had a chance to see the Redwoods in Northern California. We made it to Washington on May 7th, 10 days after leaving. We had planned to make it in 9 days but we had some unfortunate coolant leakage in Albuquerque that delayed us a day. Thankfully it happened at the hotel where we were staying, and it was relatively cheap and quick to get fixed. We didn’t have any issues the rest of the way. Thank you for your prayers. We could see God's hand of protection over us throughout our travels.

We will be heading to Stonewater on the 12th and have a couple of days to settle in before we begin our respective jobs on the 17th. I’m going to be helping with some raft days on the 14th and 15th so I get a bit earlier of an unofficial start. I am excited to jump into ministry for the summer.

We are currently at 70% support! It has been amazing seeing God continue to work and provide for us. I plan to continue support raising through the summer as my schedule allows. I look forward to sharing with you more as the summer unfolds!

Praise

  • Safety while traveling. We had good weather and minimal problems
  • Continued increase in support level
  • The chance to visit friends and family along the trip as well as here in Washington

Prayer requests

  • We are still looking for an apartment to rent by fall (we have summer housing)
  • Mental and physical strength as we begin our jobs in a new capacity/environment (Me at Stonewater and Jena at Starbucks)
  • A continued increase in funds as we ask people to join our support team
  • That the youth we minister to this summer would be impacted by the Gospel
  • That we would work together well as a full-time team, work well alongside the summer staff, and work well with the Young Life team we are partnering with for this summer
Thank you for your prayers!  Feel free to send me your own prayer requests as well.

Sincerely,
David and Jena Longenecker
