Despite the recent announcements from the CDC about vaccination and mask use and the news that COVID infection rates continue to decline, we were reminded this week that we are still very much in the midst of a global pandemic. Once again, one of our classes had to be sent home to quarantine and test out of school, and teachers and staff had to restart a week of remote learning. Explaining to kids why they can’t be here and explaining to parents why we must once again disrupt routines is hard; it weighs heavy on the people who make these decisions and make the calls. We realize that this has to be done, but with each occurrence we also hope that this may be the last time we have to send a class home.
For the remaining weeks of school, I ask all families for your continued support to see that all students can finish their school year in-person without interruption.
PLEASE: Continue to complete the Daily Health Screening Tool every day before sending your children to school.
PLEASE: If children are sick or if a member of the household has COVID-like symptoms, do not send children to school.
PLEASE: Observe physical distancing when congregating with other adults. Adults are asked to maintain 10 feet of distance from the bus door when loading and unloading. Adults should not board the bus under any circumstances.
PLEASE: Contact Nurse Becki if you have any questions, concerns or doubts or if you need an opinion about symptoms or any situation that may affect your child’s ability to attend school.
PLEASE: Stay aware and vigilant. We’re not out of this just yet and all of us at Muddy Brook would greatly prefer to have all of our in-person students with us every remaining day of this school year.
