The Brainerd Public Library was established in 1899 and was a founding member of the Kitchigami Regional Library system in 1969. The Library's mission is to bring people, information, and ideas together to enrich lives and build community.

Gardening Class**

Please join us via Zoom for Hostas: From Mini to Giant with Master Gardener Jennifer Knutson. Hostas are the stars of the shade garden and range in size from miniature to giant. Cultivation information will be provided on best practices for planting, care, pest resistance, and other factors important to the success of growing hostas. Suggestions for using hostas in the landscape will also be given.

The Brainerd Book Club will meet online via Zoom on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 1 pm for our next book discussion of Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. “Little Fires Everywhere” is an NYT bestseller, turned Hulu TV series starring Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon. This novel explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, and the ferocious pull of motherhood – and the danger of believing that following the rules can avert disaster. Did you know that the amount of time children spend reading outside of school is linked to gains in reading achievement? Numerous studies show that access to books and magazines is directly related to higher reading achievement. The 2021 Summer Reading Program Reading Colors Your World is simple: if you read or have books read to you - you earn prizes! The Friends of The Brainerd Public Library book sale is open for shopping, at the Westgate Mall, on Tuesdays between 9 am-3 pm. No appointment is necessary. Masks are required for entry.
