Thanks to everyone who responded to a longer version of the letter below which we initially emailed in early May as a stand-alone message! Your support for our work is really gratifying!
If you are like me, spring is a great time to step outside and experience more of what makes Clark County such a great place to live.
This spring is particularly meaningful to me, like I imagine is true for many of you, given the way in which the COVID pandemic kept us from experiencing local natural areas with friends.
As our mood lightens along with our opportunities to spend time with friends, I can’t help but reflect on how proud I am of our team here at the Watershed Alliance of SW Washington and our work over the last year.
We figured out how to adapt our stewardship plantings and cleanups to COVID protocols and a dedicated team of volunteers have pitched in by showing up nearly every month.
We moved our Film Series to virtual and more than 160 of you have participated in them so far.
We continue to sign people up fast and furious for the Backyard Habitat Certification program.
People-power is our secret sauce: individuals who show up and demonstrate stewardship in their own backyards or at our public events, as well as people whose donations fuel our work. Donations are particularly necessary right now to ensure we can seize the opportunity to work with and educate more people as the pandemic wanes and people become eager to participate.
In that spirit, we are making a special effort this spring to let our supporters know how much their financial contributions are necessary to propel our work forward. We have set a goal of raising $15,000 from individuals by June 30th so that we can operate at full throttle during the second half of the year.
Whether you can give $5, $50, or $500 -- all donations make a difference.
