Everyone has felt the impacts of COVID-19, but vulnerable residents of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside have been hit especially hard, including people like Mikayla, a 47-year-old Transgender woman. Your Mission & Service gifts support WISH, an organization that works to improve the health, safety and well-being of women who are involved in Vancouver’s street-based sex trade.

Minute for Mission Stories are from the
United Church of Canada's Your Generosity Matters 2021:
In the beginning, the Church was a spiritual movement with no established building or organizational structure overseeing the people as they gathered. The Spirit descended in their midst and they were moved. In this issue, we report on signs of the multi-faceted movement of the persistent Spirit in our midst (Curbside Spirit, remembering colleagues, butterflies, the 1997 London Conference ‘moo-ving into the 21st Century’, Norwich UC’s 200 year history, discerning Pentecost in the Pandemic, Darning Socks to extend their life, as well as Calls to Action both to be in solidarity with Indigenous peoples to advance reconciliation (TRC and Bill C-15) and with those refugees living in dire circumstances in Tigray, Ethiopia. We lift up the place of eco-theology in sorting our way forward and the need to move quickly and intentionally to restore Mother Earth. All of these move us toward A New Community.
There is a children's section in the newsletter that asks for submissions of drawings by children for each month's theme. Send your pictures of Monarch butterflies to the email below!
If you would like a printed copy of the Connections newsletter mailed to you, please contact the Church office and Mel will add you to the mailing list.
