First Baptist Church of Greater Des Moines in Johnston, IA, is searching for a part-time music director, choir director, and organist.
In 2020, COVID-19 brought our music ministry to a Grand Pause. After counting rests for these many months, we are ready and excited to restart the music and rebuild our fine arts department!
A Des Moines congregation for over 170 years, First Baptist has a long history of excellence in musical performance. Preferred applicants would be classically trained, but also open to integrating newer musical applications into a worship setting. These positions may be separate or paired/combined with a start date as soon as possible. Job descriptions can be found HERE. For more information please contact the church office: 515-243-8161

The new Church Sound University (CSU) training video “Audio 101 For Pastors” is just as the title describes, an introduction for pastors, ministers, or other worship leaders to the basics of sound reinforcement, which increasingly plays a key role in worship services.
If you’re a pastor that has left "tech" to the tech team, you’re not alone – and frankly, you often have too many balls in the air to take it on. However, there are times when a working knowledge might be just what’s needed to ensure your community has the best possible – and most consistent – audio experience.
Some of the topics covered in the course include:
- Why is sound reinforcement even necessary?
- Why you need all the “stuff” it requires.
- Basic language of audio to better communicate with your sound and praise teams.
- How to build tech teams and keep them onboard and motivated.
- Sound system basics as well as key microphone principles.
Who to ask when you need help. Finding help can be incredibly difficult so knowing who to ask is often the biggest hurdle to overcome.
Cost is $69.00
The course includes a downloadable notebook with the key points and for taking additional notes, and to help you track your progress, each segment is followed by an assessment quiz. CSU offers a 100% money-back guarantee and unlimited access to the course.

Church Sound University was created by the audio professionals at ProSoundWeb.com, Live Sound International magazine and Church Sound magazine.
Our goal is to provide educational and informative content in person and online that will truly benefit church audio tech teams and worship leaders of all knowledge levels.
