Covid Update
There are more than 20 million Covid-19 cases in India, 3 million of which are from the 2 states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where most of our churches are located. We are getting daily reports from churches on the increasing number of cases in churches, several deaths etc. Several of our pastors and families have also tested positive. Our state is under a lockdown until the 23rd of May. We have closed our office and our churches have gone back to online services.
Due to the large population, hospitals across India are flooded and there aren't enough beds, oxygen, ventilators; also not enough vaccines for all. People have to wait in long queues to get vaccinated, where social distancing has become impractical. The images below will give you an idea about how people are waiting in hospitals to get vaccines.

Ways to Help

Medical help for people who are hospitalized. Due to the large number of cases, people find it difficult to find beds in Government hospitals. In that case, they will either have to go to private hospitals, where they have to pay for the treatment or get treated at their respective homes itself, where they need to pay for oxygen and medicines.

Financial help for people who are unable to work and provide for the family.

Food kits for families. The state government supplies a basic food kit with rice and grains, but it is very meagre. Some extra provisions would be a great help for them.

School Fees: Our school is going through a big crisis now that we have switched to online classes. Many parents have lost their jobs and are unable to paying the school fees. Till date, we haven’t stopped anyone from entering the online classes, nor have we reduced the payment for the teachers. We can make sure about how many drop outs there will be, once the school starts.

Covid Relief Project
We have started the first round of grocery kit distribution. Following are some selected pictures of the distribution in some areas. As you can see in some of the places, the kits are given by the side of the road, as the private roads to several houses are barricaded as they are containment zones.
We are doing all that we can within our limited resources, and it is all possible only through the help of Christians on the other side of the world. We are indebted to you and pray that God bless you and keep you all safe.

Cyclone Tauktae Update
Kerala braces for heavy rains, Red alerts in five northern districts.
Cyclone Tauktae is expected to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during the next 12 hours and into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm in the subsequent 12 hours. Please pray for safety and complete protection during this tough time.
