PREMA Powerteam will make a glamorous return to the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend as the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is back for round three at the Monte Carlo street venue.
The trip to the famous race track is always challenging for technical and logistic reasons, with the paddock located far away from the track and a demanding schedule which starts as early as Thursday.
The team will field its three full-time drivers, Estonian Paul Aron, Spaniard David Vidales and Swedish rookie Dino Beganovic. Aron and Vidales both raced in the series last year, but Monte Carlo will be new for them as well, since the GP was cancelled due to the pandemic in 2020. While Vidales took a storming win in the series opener at Imola, Aron is holding second place in standings and Beganovic is climbing his learning curve coming from F4 competition so there's plenty on the table for them.
The team is coming from a up-and-down performance in the previous round at Barcelona, but is now aiming to put up a good fight. Finding the right pace straight away will be key in a pool of drivers without much experience with the ins and outs of street racing. It will also be paramount not to make mistakes, since the guard rails of Monte Carlo, together with the narrow track, can make for extremely costly consequences.
