23,000 MESSAGES OF SUPPORT!

Hello <<First Name>>

Since its launch last Wednesday, CLIA’s Ready, Set, Sail campaign has prompted more than 23,000 emails to Members of Parliament around Australia, sending an unmistakable message of support for a domestic cruise resumption.

There can no longer be any doubt about the size and passion of our cruise community, which has made it clear that our industry has worked hard in response to the global pandemic and is ready for revival.

The messages sent to state and federal politicians around Australia provide an insight into the lives of thousands of people who make up the cruise economy and who have been devastated by its suspension.  These messages provide important backing for the lobbying efforts that CLIA and our cruise line members have mounted, but there’s still more to be done.

If you haven’t already joined the campaign, we encourage you to act now. CLIA has created an online tool at www.ReadySetSail.com.au that allows you to message politicians quickly and easily. With a few clicks, you can generate instant emails to local MPs and key Ministers or personalise a message to tell your own story.

We encourage you to edit your own message and share your personal experience with MPs – the impact the cruising suspension has had on real Australians will help show the true cost to our community.

We’re grateful for the incredible support we’ve received for this campaign. Along with the success of a similar initiative in the US, it has given us great confidence in the strength and resilience of our industry. As a next step, we will plan similar efforts in New Zealand and we will be able to tell you more about this soon.

Please Visit www.ReadySetSail.com.au now and help show politicians how important cruising is to our community.

Stay Safe,

Joel Katz
Managing Director, CLIA Australasia

COVID-19 UPDATE

The UK becomes the latest destination to welcome a cruise revival this week as the first ships set off on domestic itineraries under the industry’s strict new health measures.

Celebrations began on the weekend as P&O Cruises christened its new ship Iona at Southampton ahead of its maiden UK season, while MSC Cruises is ready to become the first line to carry UK passengers when MSC Virtuosa sets sail tomorrow.

In total there will be 14 CLIA cruise lines operating in the UK this year, initially in England.

"It's enormously encouraging to see the UK is making such a significant contribution to the industry's overall restart," said Andy Harmer, managing director of CLIA UK & Ireland. "We have always advocated a phased resumption, beginning with UK sailings, and it's rewarding to see this is now taking place.”

The UK’s domestic-first mode is similar to the phased resumption envisaged by CLIA for Australia and New Zealand. You can find out more in CLIA’s infographic, A Model for Responsible Sailing

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Limited Placements Available for the online CLIA Masters Program starting June 7

Redesigned in an online format, the Masters Program will give you the insight you need to forge a unique position in a competitive retail landscape. It takes travel agents into an environment beyond mainstream selling, helping them to pursue new revenue streams and create a unique brand differentiation.

Previously conducted at sea in an annual on-board conference, this year’s Masters Program will be structured as a six-week online course, offered twice during the year. Open to CLIA member agents who have achieved Ambassador status, the program will provide an opportunity to attain CLIA Cruise Masters status, the highest qualification for CLIA cruise specialists.

The CLIA Masters Program will begin on June 7 and will be offered again from September 20, 2021. After completing the Masters course and assignment, agents will receive 100 accreditation points and enter the prestigious CLIA Cruise Masters ranks with perks including a higher search ranking on the CLIA Australasia website.

The course cost is AU$350 per attendee. Please note that you may be eligible to claim the course cost as a tax deduction.
