Welcome to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)! You are 1 of only 23 scholars selected to join an elite group of talented students taking part in the 10th year of CHOP Research Institute Summer Scholars Program (CRISSP). The establishment of CRISSP demonstrates our commitment to training the next generation of biomedical researchers. The 2021 CRISSP interns are exceptional students who matriculate at universities and colleges from across the country, maintain outstanding GPAs, and have a broad range of majors. Some CRISSP scholars aspire to pursue careers in medicine while others intend to join doctoral or combined degree programs.
Although your research experiences may be vastly different, all CRISSP scholars are united by a common desire that forms the basis of the Hospital’s mission: to contribute to the advancement of health care for children. This summer, you will work on a variety of research projects that address different questions using basic, clinical, behavioral, and translational research methodologies. CRISSP will provide theoretical knowledge, practical training in academic research, and critical exposure to pediatric-focused career trajectories all under the direct mentorship of CHOP faculty.
We are delighted that you have decided to join us this summer and look forward to seeing you at orientation on your first day: Monday, June 7, 2021.
The Office of Academic Training and Outreach Programs (ATOP) has prepared information and resources to introduce you to CRISSP and to assist in making your transition to CHOP a smooth one. We strongly recommend that you review these materials in advance of attending the CRISSP orientation.
We hope that your experience with us will be rewarding, informative, challenging, exciting and fun!
Feel free to contact the ATOP staff at crissp@chop.edu if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
