The Wildfire Twitter Chat aims to raise awareness about the dangers of wildfires and educate people on wildfire prevention and how to prepare and protect themselves, their loved ones, and their property. Specific topics that will be covered include the science behind wildfires, mitigation ideas for home and property owners, and the flash flooding risk following wildfires for areas adjacent to burn scars. The Wildfire Twitter Chat is an interagency effort that will include partners with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and the National Park Service (NPS). State and local officials will also participate, offering a regionalized perspective on wildfire information.
