Cleaning out your garage? Getting rid of junk? All that stuff doesn’t have to end up in the landfill. Learn about Earth-friendly options for clearing the clutter.

Youth Summer Reading Program Reading Colors Your World
Let reading color your world this summer! Log the minutes you read to earn badges and rewards.
How it works:
1) Read for 500 minutes to officially finish the program. Earn five prizes and two tickets for the Final Prize Drawing.
2) Optional: Finish fun and engaging activities. Two extra tickets can be earned.
3) Designate your tickets for the prize you would like to win:
Barnes & Noble gift card
Classic Cinemas movie ticket
Crayon finger puppets
Iridescent drawstring bag
Tie-dye kit
Prizes:
Window decal – 200 minutes
T-shirt – 300 minutes
Choose one: a kaleidoscope, plane kit, or a flying butterfly toy – 400 minutes
Free McDonald’s ice cream cone – 500 minutes

Prizes will be given out starting June 14th.

Page Turner Animal Adventures
As part of our summer programming, we invite you to come along on an eight-week, virtual animal safari with Page Turner Adventures! Although geared towards grades K-3, many virtual events and activities are great for all ages. Comedy storybook theater, guest performers, virtual field trips, author visits, puppets, crafts, recipes, and games will be part of the fun! Check out the Fun Factory Saturday crafts too!
Take a kit home and use it as inspiration for your playtime! From doctor kits to cereal sand, each week brings something new! Kits will be available at the Youth Desk while supplies last.
Nature Explorers Recommended for Age 2-7 with parent/caregiver
Listen to a STEM concept story, and participate in activities that go along with the theme. Hands-on suggestions for science-based activities are also included. Registration required (over Zoom link).
At Home Storytime Recommended for Ages 0-5 with Caregiver
Connect with the library from your home to hear stories, make music, and get your brain working in an interactive storytime for little ones and their grown-ups. Registration required (over Zoom link)
A Zoo to You is bringing a petting zoo to our library! In-person/phone registration begins June 1 and is required. Limited to EGVPL cardholders. See complete details on our website calendar page.
Join us in the Elk Grove Village Public Library parking lot for a socially distanced, in-person event! Registration is required and limited to EGVPL cardholders.
Tie-dye outside at the library! You will need to bring your own pre-washed, plain white, 100% cotton shirt. Certain Thursdays in June & July. Register only once this summer.
June Summer Take & Make All Ages through 8th Grade Click on the date to register: Friday, June 18
Make a summery craft in June. Register to receive your materials.
Draw all sorts of traditional summer stuff - BBQs, swimming, baseball - and then add a weird twist! Don’t miss this fun, creative celebration over Zoom! Registration required.
Middle School/Junior High
Junior Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Calling students in grades 6, 7, and 8! Join the year-round Junior Teen Advisory Group (Jr. TAG). Earn service hours and meet new students.
Meet in person outside the library to discuss books, movies, & everything else! If it rains, we'll meet on Zoom. Copies of When Stars Are Scattered will be available at the Youth Services Desk.
