Caregivers' Circle

Connecting English-speakers from the Quebec City region who provide care to older adults, no matter where they live

Cherishing and growing our community of care

A message from Marie-Christine Beaulieu
New coordinator of our Caregivers' Circle program

Hello everyone! It is with great honour that I pick up the torch passed along by our dear and dedicated Jan Anderson. I have been fortunate to work alongside her over the last few months her, learning the details of the program she started in January of 2014. During the Caregivers’ Café sessions I have attended as well as meetings, I have learned valuable insights into the world of caregivers from Jan.

I have worked at Saint Brigid’s Home for over 15 years, and I can attest to the English-speaking community’s wonderful spirit of mutual aid and support. There is an impressive world of connection, listening and respect...

Celebrating Father's Day
Ideas to make the day special for Dad or Grampa
  • Take a walk through nature – in the park, on an easy hiking trail, or through the neighborhood.
  • Treat him to a relaxing massage or an old-fashioned professional shave and haircut.
  • Bring home a takeout meal from his favorite restaurant.
  • Give him a set of large print playing cards or a comfy pair of new non-slip slippers.
  • Arrange a family concert via Zoom, Duo, Facetime or Messenger featuring the grandkids singing or playing an instrument.

Questions & Answers

Questions caregivers are asking
  1.  "I am concerned about my eyesight. My mother suffered from macular degeneration and my father had cataracts. I want to learn more about protecting my vision. Where can I go to learn more?"

Join us on June 16 for a CHEP Videoconference session with Optometrist, Dr. Antonio Canuto Community Outreach Session: Vision & Eye Care. Visit our website for more information or to register.

  2. "I've noticed in the past year that my father's health and vision have been declining. I'm afraid about him driving his car. Where can I go to ask for help?"

No matter what kind of car you drive or how old you are, you need sound physical and mental health, and good eyesight to drive. The SAAQ is a great place to start for information about state of health questions and driver's licenses. In addition, check out this helpful  article that outlines 7 Warning Signs when a loved one should STOP driving.
A new printed newsletter at Saint Brigid's Home

Look for the first edition coming soon!

It is with great excitement that we announce a new initiative at Saint Brigid’s Home (SBH). We will soon be launching The Kildare Chronicles. One of the main objectives of this newsletter to encourage residents and employees to participate in a collective project. In fact, the newsletter committee itself is a wonderful partnership made up of Saint Brigid's staff, the Wellness Centre team and our dedicated volunteers.  Thanks to everyone involved, we will be able to bring you four bilingual editions each year.

The Kildare Chronicles aims to be both informative and stimulating.  In it, you will find cognitive, artistic and cultural activities for residents and their caregivers, as well as highlights of the lives of our residents, staff and community partners.  You will also be able to learn about the many projects at Saint Brigid’s—past, present and future—that help bring joy to our living environment. Caregivers can request paper copies at the SBH reception desk. Happy reading!
Sharing is caring!
